IRS Swap

In a week I will swap my 02 GT's axle for an IRS from an 03' Cobra. I have searched high and low for a complete write-up (pictures too) on this swap. Can someone please help! I would like to know what parts I will need and what parts the guy with the Cobra needs. We both have a magnaflow cat back (magnapacks for me), I know we will need to swap exhaust but I would really like to keep my magnapack mufflers. Does anyone know if they will fit on the magnaflow piping from the cobra cat back?

Thanks for the help!

Your Magnapack mufflers will NOT be a direct swap to the IRS Magnaflow catback. You will need to do some pipe-bending or have them welded in most likely, in order to achieve a perfect fit. Don't get me wrong, it can be done, but it won't be a straight-forward "slip it into the existing tubing & clamp on" install, ok?

best bet is to trade part for part... don't keep anything! you'll regret it later...

I did the swap and it could be done in a day. we did it in a week... the cobra was out within 8 hours and my car was sitting there for a week, because we decided to do some extra things while we were at it

Aren't IRS setups worse for launching? Don't many Cobra owners swap IRS setups for live axel setups???

true, but I for one would like to have IRS on my rear. I'd perfer handling over straightline.

MRDucks make sure to take enough pics, and more pics, so if I do this in future, i have something to look up to

I just heard from another source that when you do the swap that neither the Cobra or the GT's e-brake will work. Can anyone verify this?

Thanks
ebrake cables worked fine with me...

people say they don't fit, but me and my friend got mine to fit without issues!
