Is a fox intake swap worth it?

My cousin wants to swap a fox style intake manifolds onto his 95 GT. This intake has been ported and comes with a spacer. I'm thinking the extra 10HP (if that) isn't worth all this trouble, unless a ported fox body intake setup is a lot better than the stock 95 intakes? How hard would it be to swap these things? Would he need the elbow for the TB?

the big restriction with the stock intakes is the lower, is that also ported or just the upper? if he also swapped to a fox style TB then he would not need an elbow, but if he wanted to keep the 94/95 style then he would need an elbow

If he's going to keep the fox style throttle body on the intake than he will pick up some throttle response too, but theres more to the swap than just putting the fox pieces on. He has to swap the throttle cable, cruise control cable,CAI,throttle position sensor, and the IAC from the fox body to make it work.

On a ported stock intake, you want the lower to be ported. The stock upper does not restrict flow as does the lower. A solid 10hp gain is very realistic on a near stock / bolt-on motor. Go for it.

He's saving up for a good kit from trickflow or Edelbrock, so this could help out in the mean time. thanks

I dont think a ported stock is worth the trouble money and time, even if is a fox. Tell him to just wait, and get an edel or trick flow.
