Is an aluminum driveshaft worth it?

Did anyone have an aluminum driveshaft that fixed driveline vibration at high speeds? Is the 200$ worth it? What improvement did you notice?

I have not had any probs with vibration in the drive line but many others have and they say the Aluminum ds took care of the prob.

The search button will give you many threads to use for your research.

My stock D/S and my alum were teh same size. Mine was actually hitting my ebrake cables (just secured them out of the way last week)... I also had to bend the ebrake bracket back up too.

An aluminum DS cured my high speed vibration problem. I chalked it up to new u-joints though which can be had for like 8 bucks each. It's good to loose rotational mass weight though. On top of that it comes new with ujoints and balanced.

As for clearance issuse I had the ebrake bracket thing too, I grinded some off of it. "Seems" ok now.

I swapped my gears for 373's and got huge vibration after that. Put in an FMS aluminum driveshaft and fixed the vibration right up! Of course, now I have the EBrake cable issue. I have to fix that one. :D

Back from the deeeeeaaaaaaaaad!

Looking into getting an aluminum driveshaft since I'm gonna change the clutch and its gonna come off anyway... got a question about this rubbing though. Does the rubbing occur on the bracket right underneath the ebrake only? Anywhere else? Also, just to clarify, the FRPP aluminum driveshaft is a 3.5" diameter while the stock 5.0 and awd aerostar are both 3.0" diameter, correct? Does the difference in diameter benefit either side?

I replied to this thread in 2005 and now again in 2012.

It did rub the Ebrake on mine only. It went away after time, probably grind itself down so it didn't touch any longer. Don't think the thicker diameter does anything else other than rub on stuff. The weight difference is noticeable.

In 2005 it was on the car 10 years, now its 17 years.

I don't have any rubbing on the aluminum driveshaft on my Cobra clone. However, when I installed the driveshaft I made sure to bend the parking brake bracket up again - it seems to bend over time. Only had the driveshaft on there for a couple of years tho.
