I did the clay bar thing today and I must say I can not tell the difference. I did it with the Mothers detailer stuff followed by the supplied wax. Doesn't even bead now... Sad to say I am not impressed. Was I expecting too much, or is it just the color of my car will not provide the luster I seek?

claybar is used to remove any oxydation/particles that are stuck/baked onto your car that simply washing/waxing does not remove.

also when you claybar it removes your wax and whatever else is on the surface of your paint and thats why water is no longer beading up.

since youve already used the claybar next step i would do is put some polish on there to get the deep shine and after that seal it up with some wax and that should do the trick

uhh dude the claybar really wont make the car shine all that much more, its purpose is to prep the surface and remove all the contaminants so you can apply your waxes and stuff. also when using claybar make sure not to drop it if you do throw it away. the cleaner wax they supply with it really isnt good for anything. plus being a fox you have single stage paint which makes a really good shine hard to do without a buffer and some quality products. try this site out and sign up, best thing you will ever do:

I side with the other guys. A claybar is made to remove all the junk from the paint so the polish/wax can do a better job of shining your paint.

After I used the clay bar on my car the paint looked horrible. It removed all the wax and made the paint look quite dull. I then hit it with Zaino polish/wax and my car shined brighter than it ever has.

The main reason to use the claybar is to remove stubborn water spots, imbedded particles, and stuff such as tree sap.

I'm a little stupid today. Sorry I posted this in the wrong sub-forum.... Not single stage. Base/clear. I understang the whole it cleans thing but I should have more descriptive. The paint is now smooth yes but it still looks dirty as heck.. Just tried it on my wifes van and it worked amazxing so it is just my paint.

Don't mean to jack the thread, but Zaino has a new swirl reuducer that is amazing. Its like PF-c or something like that. Just came out. I got it today, tried it on my hood. Little work, but it deffinetly hides the swirls better than the other stuff.

As far as the clay bar, it worked great on my Focus and Cobra, but did nothing on my old Miata. I had my Miata painted a year before I used it. Maybe it just has something to do with the brand of clear or something. I don't see how that would make a difference, but you never know.

With the clay your going to FEEL a difference. Put a Ziplock bag on your hand, and rub it across your paint, then clay it, and rub your hand across in the bad. You'll **** yourself once you see how much **** the clay took out.

Like said above, the clay removes everything, including all other waxes. its great for prep, but HAS to be followed by at least a good sealant. If nothing else, just slap a coat of wax on it after the clay, if you wanna go all out, use a polish/cleaner wax/then your carnaubu or sealant. Good luck

it lets you feel the surface contamination better than using your regular hand. Just try and you'll see
