ok, i have the shelby drop and 620 pound coils on the front with a 1" sway bar on 14" wheels wrapped in 195/60R14 tires. heres the deal, atleast one time every time i drive my sway bar drags the ground, and no one wants to align it, they all claim it sits to low to put on their aligning machines. is it really to low, or is it just my itzy bitzy wheels and tires and what is the max size of tires on 15" rims I can go???? heres a picture for an idea...

It's not THAT low. I don't think you could increase the overall height of your tyres much either. Although the fronts do look a little small.

Are you thinking of changing all four wheels to 15s?

Better your sway bar than the oil pan... Think of it as a sacrifitial sway bar.

When you change the front end height of your car, you need to change the length of the end links on your sway bar to keep the bar in the same plane as original.

That's about how low mine sits too. It's BS that they can't get it on their alignment machines cause I've had mine done. There are cars out there that sit much lower than that. Keep checking around.

I agree there are plenty of lower cars out there....look for a different shop.

To fix that sway bar drag...slow down over bumps.

www.1010tires.com has a tire comparison tool that is pretty handy for figuring out what size tire you can change to.

Had the same problem with my 69 after I cut 1/2 coil off an Eibach spring and did the shelby drop... with long tube headers it was actually too low to drive and it wouldn't clear the alignment machine anyway. Reversed the drop back to stock and installed shorter end links on the 1" sway bar to bring it back up. It still has a nice stance up front with just the coils cut and 205/70-14 fronts and 225/70-14 rears. You can get the shorter links at most auto parts stores..usually have a display which shows you how much shorter to go based on the amount you have lowered the car.

Did the same on my other 69 with 620s cut 1/3, Granada 15/16" sway bar, shorter links and 195/60-14s and 245/60-14s.

well, i do think of it that way, but its sorta embarassing when you are riding around with friends.

I did that, the sway bar sits at the middle of the end links instead of the top now. I noticed how it would change the pitch and moved it.

On my car I eliminated the little sleeves over the end links, switched to shorter bolts and used only one urethane bushing instead of two per side. This brought the center of the bar back up to a reasonable height, other wise it drug on everything.

Well if you went 215/55 on the front with 15s you'd have a 1/2 inch height increase. You'd want to go something a little bigger in back, maybe 215/60 or 235/55. If you can get tyres of those proportions in 15". Of course that may be bigger than your current rear wheel height, and so your speedo will be slightly out. I'm just trying to match a set that isn't taller in front.

I tried to do that, but, if i moved the sway bar any lower on the end bolts, the sway bar would hit the front strut rods. =/ thats why I could only go half way with it.

The shop probably has a jack across the rack... I can't get my Mach across those either. Go to a shop that can either remove the jack, or doesn't have one. The car is low, but not all that low. I am surprised you don't scrub the front tires in a bumpy turn..
