is it true that pi head swap gt's make more power then 99-04 gt?

or is this just somthing that is said and assumed?

ive heard it alot, but didnt know if it was really true. is there ant proof like a 98 gt with just a head swap beating a stock 01 gt....or dyno #'s?
 
I don't think they are all that much faster :shrug:

I considered the PI Head/Intake swap, though my car has 112k on it so I decided not to mod it anymore. Just trying to keep the miles somewhat low :shrug:
 
yeah it's tru. it's mainly due to our pistons. they bump the CR up with the PI heads on. unfortunately you have to run premium fuel all the time. if you were to mill the swirl dams in the PI heads though, we would retain the stock CR.

Agreed. (See sig.) The difference between Bierbelly's setup and mine is that he had shortie headers and I have the Magnaflow exhaust. I had 250/295 (running waaaay lean) before my EEC reflash. I'm probably right there now.

yes, I asked my mechanic about that, and he said it wasn't a good idea, so thats why I am purchasing a DSS 4.6. pi swapped 4.6 67k/fs pst. ;)
 
i whole heartedly agree that you should change you pistons if you were gonna run boost. i'm just saying that if you wanted a quick fix, or didn't want to run premium cause you're a cheapass, then mill the swirl damns.
 
just because they make more power, doesnt mean they are faster...i raced a PI swapped GT with roughly the same bolt ons as me, he didnt have a tune and i did but he was on drag radials, we both were cutting the same 60's and he was run 13.90s to my 13.60's and 13.70s...

now i'm not saying this is true for ALL of them...but the few that i have raced still werent able to keep up with me...

If you build the motor correctly c/r (compression ratio) is not a big factor. Recently I myself learned this in a conversation with Scott at V/T engines.
however raising the compression ratio will require the lowerend of the motor to be strengthened as was as the block o-ringed.
