is it worth it

well since you do it only every two years, i dont see it being a problem changing it back and forth, if you want it to be really loud, then go for the offroad pipe..

It really depends on what mods you have and what you plan on doing. NA cars with a good catted X or H pipe will not loose much power but SC cars generally loose enough for me to change it back and forth. If you are looking for every last bit of HP, you will want to swap the stock one back each year.

Check out the new SLP X pipe, the cats slip on and off, I email them to confirm this, put it on, get it inspected, take them off and put in a strait piece of pipe. Should be a hell of a lot easier than changing the whole x pipe, and cheaper. Thats what I plan on doing anyway. We have yearly inspection inthe gawd aweful state of New York, yet another reason to hate it, no tthat i need another one.

guys, it takes a whole 3 hours for the average mechanic to swap pipes. I live in alabama where there are not tests but several friends who have their cars registered in GA just swap pipes the day before they go get tested then swap back that afternoon or next day.

Get the o/r pipe. They're twice as cheap and sound twice as good :D

The cheaper part is nice. I think if I got my X pipe while in MD (where my car is registered) I might've gotten an o/r. But I was in MA, no way was I going to ship my stock H down there to swap for emissions.

o/r was like $100-$150 less :notnice:

I live in CA and plain on buying the SLP x-pipe because you can swap out the front pipe can be removed after I save up for long tubes. I think every company needs to do that! It allows us poor people that don't have (or want) bottomless credit cards to avoid buying one thing now just to have to get something different later. Now if SLP could just drop the price on there long tubes we could really be in business. :damnit:

3 hours for an average mechanic? you know some slow mechanics then :notnice:

if its up on a lift, it shouldnt take anymore than ~45 minutes for the swap of the midpipe if the guy is slow..

if its on jackstands, then i could understand that :(
