Is Lucas oil good?

Hey guys. I've got a 69 Mach One with 4500 miles on the 377 stroker engine. It is noisy. I have a b303 cam shaft with an Eagle Specialty Products rotating assembly. I am currently using Valvoline 20w-50 Racing Oil. My oil pressure raised when I changed to this oil, I was using Kendall GT-1 20W-50 oil before. I stopped by Kragen and saw the Lucas Oil additive and claimed that it quieted engine noise. Does this stuff really work?

What block and lifters do you have? I've heard good things about lucas for noisy lifters. I'm guessing you are talking about valve train noise.

I've got a Ford Racing A351 Windsor Sportsman roller cam block with custom made standard bore JE pistons. The engine noise seems to kind of like a tractor. It is not like the other hi-performance engines where all I hear is just the exhaust-sounds tight, no engine noise. The moment the person taps on the gas the it goes up right away-no stumbling. Kinda like the Nascar Nextel Cup race cars-that's what I wanted from my engine.

I would not waste my money on this "snake" oil. If it were any good the OEM's would recommend it. Why are you running such heavy weight oil? Thicker is not better and worse when cold. Try straight 30 weight if it is not too cold in your area or synthetic.
