Is my rearend dead?

Whenever I drive for a while and the rearend heats up it starts jerking and making loud clanking noises. It also gets really hot. One of the rear axle seals is leaking too.

I'm thinking the trac-lok needs to be rebuilt and the seals have to be replaced. Is there a better option for the same amount of money? Would I be better of buying an entire used rearend?

yeah sounds like it. I would get an improved rear end like an auburn and what gears are ya running? If you have not changed it I would get a 3.73 rear end maybe some 31 spline axles as well do it all at once. instead of pieces.

Definitely do what Tony said. Gut everything inside the "casing" of the rear and put all new in there.
