hey guys... i have an 01 gt 5-speed... 18k miles on it. I just bought it a month ago and am relatively new to stick-shifts.

Anyway, I noticed today that my car will shift into neutral without the clutch if it is under 2000 rpms... is this bad?

no no - let's say im coming to a stop in 2nd gear. rpms sink from 3,000 to 2,000.

at the 2,000 point, i can simply slide the stick into neutral without the clutch being pressed. this does it in all gears under 2,000 rpms or so.

I had someone that could do that except he could put it into gear without the clutch. I couldn't figure it out.

I've done that before. Verrrrrrry carefully. It's all about using the throttle and getting the engine to the point where there isn't any load on the transmission. After getting the car moving, I could shift in and out of every gear without using the clutch. No effort required, just slides right in and out of gear. Only did that like once though.

I had to do that in my Jeep before, it would go in gear without the clutch at 3800rpm. Its a good thing to know if you're clutch goes out!

My won't go into 1st from a stop, probably because it's working right. :D

LOL! I forgot to add I had to turn it off to be able to get it into first. Damn hydrolic clutches. The master cylinder was leaking, and the only spare part I didn't carry with me was brake fluid!
