Hmmmm,
I dunno for sure about this one, yet either.
The stuff you're looking for is made by Chromaflair (a division of DuPont), and is (according to their website) available to John Q. Public and /or your paint & body shop. The actual pigments are manufactured by a company called Flex Products, Inc.
http://www.chromaflair.com/index.phtml?s=Home

There's some pretty detailed info on their Q & A page, too:
http://www.chromaflair.com/index.phtml?s=Products&s_cont=q_and_a.phtml?s=Products

Hope that helps,
Dave

There is some available on E-bay as well- looks like $125-180/qt and 800+ per gallon-

http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...t&ht=1&sosortproperty=1&from=R10&BasicSearch=

Or, there is a 2004 Mystichrome Cobra convtible available to go with your paint, if you are looking for an excuse! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6236&item=2450787380

I contacted my local paint shop today, they tell me they have the formula for the paint. It is now available from Dupont. Different than 96 Mystic (which Ford kept as a closely guarded secret).

The price is significantly lower than the guy on ebay is getting (less than $150/quart at the shop versus $125-185/pint in Ebay). I talked with the tech at the paint shop, he listed the ingredients for me - which include Chromalusion pigment. The Dupont website lists the details about the product, the special pigment, etc. Their web site has a chart showing the color number under their 2004 Ford color chart...

I'm considering using the paint for flames on my black 03 Cobra convertible.

a Black Cobra w/ Mystichrome flames..................??

Sounds like a hella good idea from here.

Black would be the only background color that I would think you could pull that off with anyway.

Glad to hear you went to the trouble to check on the availability of the paint, Terry.......I'm thinking that will save a few hundred posts and rumors from folks here in the future.

Hey, could you post a link for that website- I did 10-12 different searches on Dupont's site and came up with zip. Maybe post as "Mystichrome formula", save a lot of looking...

I know when the 96 Mystic came out and you needed body/paint work they would fly a paint rep to the site.
He would then prep, shoot and clean up EVERYTHING and take it with him...including the overspray on tape and paper. No remnants were left in the garbage to sift through.
Then again, chameleon type paint was more proprietary back then than it is now......but I doubt if they will just sell the new mystichrome to you.

Here are a couple of links to the info on Dupont's website:

http://www.performancecoatings.dupont.com/

sign in as a visitor, then scroll down to link titled
"2004 Domestic Compatibility Infornmation"
On the domestic info chart, scroll down to top of page 9 to find Mystichrome

I took that info to my local paint shop and was advised he could provide the paint - on the spot...

Also, here is a link that will lead you to Dupont's tech manuals explaining the performance and application guidelines for the products!

http://www.performancecoatings.dupo...hod:external:DPC-Login-HM-C:InterfaceFunction

Edit: If this link does not take you all the way to the tech manuals, sign in as a visitor, select the "products" button near top of page, and on the next page select tech manuals (button on left of page).

Hope this helps!

One more thing... I'm new at posting although Ive been following all you guys (and gals) for a while. I also have a picture of a black Cobra cop car I saw recently in Hawaii, but I haven't figured out how to post the pic

God Bless America!

I was watching the bidding on the ebay auction. Some poor person won the right to buy up to 3 pints - for $200 per pint!

Mr. Kopp,

This kind of feels like the stangnet forum equivalent of a telemarking call during supper
