I am having to drop my motor due to clearnce issues w stock hood and have read numerous times that vert motor mounts drop the motor around 3/4 of an inch. Before I waste money I figured I would ask you fox guys. My only option if the rumor is false is solid mounts. So I really hope this rumor is true. Thanks for any help. God Bless. Andrew.

Don't they make drop mounts? The vert mounts are stronger but i'm not sure bout the 3/4 inch drop bit.

I think the drop mounts are solid, aren't they?

I was looking on summit racing web site and i did not see any drop mounts offered for the 94-95 stangs. there has to be drop mounts though.

Vert mounts are stronger but i've never seen any proof of a height difference although many people say there is. You'd have to either get solid mounts or a tubular K member to lower the engine.

Just get a cowl hood and be done with it. You aren't going to like solid motor mounts if you drive that thing frequently. Don't know about the drop on the vert mounts. You could also get rid of the thin cross support on the underside of your hood. It won't hurt anything.

The older FOX Mustangs did have height differences between the verts and hatch/coupes but by around 91-92 they were the same height. I know that the mounts for my 93 are the same part # for verts and coupe/hatch but the mounts for my 88 have different part numbers for verts and coupe/hatch

Be mindful of space between your headers and your steering shaft. Although, it may seem like lowering your motor a 1/4 or 1/8th inch might solve your clearance problems, it may create another issue.

On my 86, the difference between mounts is pretty significant. The vert mounts are a LOT lower than the stockers. I however, do not know how tall the mounts are on later model cars like yours.

ugghh...I'm still having nightmares about your 4 eye

Yes in the later model it will drop the motor about 3/4" and usually clearance with most aftermarket shorties and long tubes is not an issue.

So pre-91 vert mounts will work on my 95? Yes I already have a cowl hood and hate it. No longer get many races

It's been awhile since I looked at early aero fox hardtop mounts but they are NOT something I'd want to use. Nor do I think they are lower than the 5N95 mounts (the 5N95 mounts are pretty pancaked for the hood line).

For edification, I'd run down to the parts store that as all 3 styles of mount in stock and compare them.

The 94-95's are real picky about the mounts (regarding NVH and driveline geometry).

Good luck.
