Is the TFI module needed with an aftermaket ignition box?

Or does the car still use/need the TFI ignition module to function even with the aftermarket ignition box?

Yeppers, you still need it. Think of the box like a stereo amplifier - you still need a headunit to make things happen.

The box just grabs the signal before the coil and amps (or modifies it depending upon if one uses the box to tune, a la using a TRC) it before it goes to the coil.

The general pathway is the ignition signal comes from the PIP, goes through the TFI module, to the puter, back to the TFI module and then to the coil.
