I want to replace the cat-back system on my 2001 Mustang GT and I am having a hard time trying to decide what is best. I had a 95 Cobra with Flowmaster 3 chamber cat-back. The Drone wasn't bad but it just wasn't deep enough or loud enough. I had a 93 5.0 with flowmaster 2 chambers, O/R x-pipe, BBK shorty headers, and ported & polished heads. I had so many compliments on how good it sounded. BUT inside the car was a different story. When I drove it on the highway I had to take Motrin like vitamins.
I was leaning toward the Magnaflow, but have read that several Stanger's have expierenced a drone. Please help me out here!!!

Thanks!!

Steeda = Borla, nice by the way

I have the Magnaflow catback and there is a slight drone @ 2000-2300 but it's not bad. I have a Bassani X too which adds to the drone somewhat. It's not near as bad as a lot of the ones I've heard.

Horseplay...where are you in VA? I am in Northern VA and I have the magnaflow catback. If you are close and you want to hear it in person before you make a decision, let me know and I will be glad to meet you somewhere to hear it.

There is a slight drone at 2,000RPM's but it isn't bad at all.

Had Flowmasters with the Tylenol drone . Went to the SVO ie, Borla side exhaust and it is sweet......not toooo loud, and no hint of drone. I would think regular Borlas would be same.

I've had many catbacks. These Magnaflows are my favorite. They are virtually silent at any speed and RPM when at a constant speed, but scream at WOT. Seriously, on the freeway at steady speed there's no drone, but just a barely audible V8 sound - perfect for me.

I would go borla or magnaflow. the borla stinger kit is like $450-470. the magnaflow used to be like $380 but I think they raised thier prices.

You can also just get Magnaflow mufflers welded in. Unless you're going to get a power adder, the tubing behind the mufflers isn't really a restriction.

Which muffler did you get? Size and part number?

I have Magnaflows and a slight drone, but gears will eliminate that

I'm sure you can find out what part number from www.magnaflow.com. I just took my car to my favorite muffler shop and they figured that out.
