I went to my local ford dealer and asked for a oil pump to block gasket (among other things) and I was told that it didn't show one, therfore it didn't use a gasket. Is this correct?

No, there is a gasket for that. Imagine mounting metal to metal and having pressurized oil pushed through it, of course it needs a gasket, and without you could lose oil pressure.
I have never run one. Never been a problem. You're talking about two machined flat surfaces.

I had an old International Loadstar 1600 with a 345cui, I changed the oil filter bracket and it didn't take a gasket either. I was surprised. It doesn't leak though.
I did spray both sides with gasket sealant though, to kind of seal up imperfections between the surfaces. The bracket I used was a used one.

You probubly wont be able to get the gasket by its self. May have to spend a few bucks and get an oil pan gasket set.
My 93 GT did have one when I took it apart, and the new oil pump had one with it. Bought the car new, so it did come with one from the factory.
My car came without one from the factory. As I said before and I was being non sarcastic, if you can't sleep at night then use the gasket otherwise it is completely not needed.
its gettin hot in here guys... I would just spend the buck and do the gasket, no biggie...Thanks for the replys, guys. I will do the gasket (and I will sleep better at night). I just don't trust the parts counter guys, especially with something as critical as my oiling system.

I just got my M-6600-M50 production oil pump and it only came with 1 gasket. It looks the same as the gasket I got from the dealer for the pickup. It will fit the 3 holes fine, but it doesn't cover the entire mating surface.
After some thought, I think that I will NOT run a gasket. I think that the pump will be more stable against the block without the gasket. This may be a non-issue, though. Of course potential leaking is not a concern.
