Or is it normal that is just slows the car down? On many other cars, when I pull the e-brake, the tires lock and screech, but not on any of my 3 past stangs and this one. Is it normal?
Parking brakes were not designed to stop your car, any car, well maybe, if you're going like 5 mph. it's only there to help the car and prevent it from rolling downhill when necessary. You can usually tell if your parking brake is working fine if you have about 6-8 clicks and it holds your car in position
I dont really know if SN95s have an adjustment, but I know that I had to replace the handle and machanism on mine cuz , even when I pull it all the way up, I can push it down without pressing on the release, it wouldnt hold my car even on the slightest incline
it should. if you closely inside the cnter console, see if there's anything out of place or see if the handle touches the teeths on the mechanism, it should. if not, or if the teeth are worn, time for a new one, or maybe check if the spring on the rear calipers moves when u pull on it, ull prolly need another person to help u
on a FWD since the rear wheels are not driven, yeah it will lock them up. On a mustang there is a lot more mass driving the wheels (even clutch in) so I don't think you will see that much braking force out of the e-brake.
click on link and enter your vin number there was a recall on the emergency brake and they will still service it at the dealership for you if the defective part has not been replaced yet... http://www.ford.com/en/vehicles/owners/recalls/default.htm
Deffinetly have the recall done if you haven't yet. Mine had already been done and the teeth on the clicking mechanism were worn out again, so I just got a used one from a salvage yard for 20 bucks. Works good enough, but the design of our parking brake is just not that great. Mine will hold on moderate inclines, but I can drive the car with it on and barely notice a drag.
