my 89 is beginning to rust at the bottom of the strut towers, i know that it would be a major project to replace so ia there any companies that sell those or do I need a donor? It is rusting where the factory seam is, has anyone of you just repair the area of rust?

Repairing the strut towers is not technically feasible. Possible yes, feasible no. You would need a factory type jig the hold the front end pieces in place when the strut towers were welded back in place. Without the jig to hold things in place, the body and steering would never be straight.

Pull the motor, strip the paint, and re-coat with POR-15.

um what?? no. people restore mustangs (especially 60s-70s era) everyday and perform these tasks, like new strut towers, i know, cuz i worked at Northcoast musclecar for years, and we did this work all the time, without a factory jig?!?! just takes experience, anyway repairing that area on these cars is easy, i am doing something similar now. rest of my car is awesome except for that one spot, i would just blast it, patch it, coat with chassis saver, prime it, paint it.

if you have to do a whole strut tower you will need another "good" car to measure off of. a good friend of mine just got done replaceing the whole front half of a car, as in from firewall forward. It is an 89 gt.

That right there is TOTALLY recoverable. I'd POR-15 the chit outta that, sand and paint over the cured product then call it a day.

Did you take from a donor car or did you just put sheet metal in and shape it around existing tower? I have to do this soon myself and trying to figure the best route to take

Did the ones on my last Fox, gonna need to do the ones on my current Fox. I don't see what the panic some of you guys are expressing is about....it's an easy fix? Even if you just patch it with some sheet metal.
