Im really interested in this car but the lowest the owner will go is 8K.

*1990 GT with 106k miles on body just re-painted silver with dark blue stripes
*Built 306 with 6k miles
*Edelbrock heads 6037's, 1.7 RR's
*Extrude & honed cobra intake
*NOS 100-150 shot
*30lb injectors and matching Mass Air
*4 point roll bar
* 5" tach and 5 othe atometer gauges and gauges are nicely wired and mounted
*Brand new draglites and BFG DR's
*BBK headers and O/R H-pipe with mac catback
*Cobra R hood and saleen wing
*Pro 5.0 shifter and 355 gears
*The car is extremely clean in and out with gray and black leather interior.

Everything on the car is brand new and runs great, I have the cash and will probably get it tommorow, what do you think?

That sounds like a good price for that car.. As long as body is in good condition no rust and with all those parts should be good.. I myself would rather buy a completely stock 5.0 and do it all myself but for that price with everything in it is good.. I know people around here selling their's with over 100k on them 89-93's for around 8 and their crap

Look at it this way, if you wanted a car exactly like it how much would it cost to buy a stock 5.0 and build it to this cars specs. Granted, a car isn't usually "worth" what the owner has in it, but it sounds like this guy has a decent chunk of change sunk into the car if he won't go lower than $8k.
That being said, I think the car is probably worth more like $6,500-$7,000 if it's as nice as you say. Without seeing it, it's not easy to guage though.

Only you can decide if it's worth that much to you. Before you do the deal, if you haven't yet, bring along another set of eyes to look it over with you. When I really want one, I tend to miss/overlook things. Having someone else there that can be more objective helps me find things -- may not keep me from buying it; but may help me negotiate a better deal.

Yep.. Guages and stuff are cheap, gears and shifter, cheap, a 306 is the cheapest engine to do, does it have stock rods , crank etc?? 4 point roll cage is for looks, all I'm saying is you add everthing value up "used prices" And all those parts are cheap.. Not doggin it, but just given my opinion, probably has had the bag beaten out of it also..get it checked out man, and run a report on it. I hope it's what he wants, just wouldn't be a good investment in my opinion.

Definitely take a friend along, someone to be critical

It really depends on the quality of all the work, how documented the work is(engine reciepts, etc.) Whys he selling,

Cars in general are not a good investment, very few of us will ever make money off our cars. It just depends on how you want to use it, and whether his mods fit your needs. No sense in buyin and the changing things around.
what would it cost to do this yourself

paint and body 3500.00
Well done 306 1000.00(home built)
heads 1000.00
Intake 400.00
Port 500.00
_______
6900.00
without the base cost of the car, rims, tires, guages, body parts, etc.
As long as it rides and drives good, and the chassis/undercarraige isnt ragged out, should be a fun car.

What about suspension work? All of this including a 4pt. should have been followed up with springs, shocks, subframes, control arms, etc.....? Aything you are forgeting to mention. Im sure there are lots of goodies. Is it efi or carb? If it is efi, does he have the components you need like adj. fuel reg, tb, MAF, ignition work, etc. Dont be fooled by a nice paint job and brand new $500 welds, ya know!!

the car belongs to a friend, he paid 6500 three years ago when it was stock. He rarely drives it or races it. Hes a good friend and this car was built right. The suspension also includes steeda springs and CC plates, KYB shocks and struts, welded subframes. He has receipts for well over $6500. The car was also customed tuned on a dyno. I know that its higher than the kelly blue book but if I buy a stock one its going to take some time and money and Im going to end up spending more in the long run. The reason he is selling it is because he just got his license suspended, as soon as I heard he was selling it I sold my 91 GT.

I think it sounds like this is a car you would build for yourself if you had the means
Even if you knock down the parts because they are now used, there is still way more than 8 grand invested. Could you duplicate it for less, doubt it, if its not a financial hardship, buy it . enjoy it.

No matter what we say you sound as if you are already sold, so I will say good luck and happy joy riding. Remember all older stangs have problems of some sort so dont be dissapointed when something small goes out or breaks on it. Hope you like it bro, sounds like a good investment to me.

You gotta decide on wether or not the price for that car is worth it. My '88 GT cost me $6500 when I got it, barely any mods... but it had a mint body and was just begging for a fresh start which is what I wanted to do
