is this a 7.5 or 8.8????

Ok, so i need help on this one...tore this rear end down and now Im confused, is this a 7.5 or an 8.8. Was told its an 8.8 but Im almost positive its a 7.5 now and Im kinda ticked!!! Also, what is with the diff??? Its a trac loc, or at least the axles spin together, but no S clip??? What the heck and i lookin at????

thats a 7.5 with what appears to at least be a decent gear ratio by the size of the ring gear thickness.

im no expert on ford differentials, but it looks nothing like any of the factory 7.5/8.8 limited slip rears ive seen. someone else will know

Thats what im thinkin, ive seen my share of diffs before, this one doesnt have but one opening, pictured, and no S clip, but a couple springs instead...anyone have a clue???

thats an auburn differential it looks like!

but my eaton kinda looked like that! Either way....better than the stock trac lok for sure!!!!!!!!

Looks like an auburn unit to me. Rear looks like it is definately a 7.5 though.

ok...with that said, heres what I want outta the rear...
its goin in my 66 mustang with a 200ci inline six which will be boosted to about 350-400hp TOOOOPS!!!! Itll prolly put down mid 400 torque again, TOPS...will this 7.5 with the beefed up internals that its got work or should I say screw it and go with an 8.8???

I would look into the axles and see if they're aftermarket as well. I would probably trust an aftermarket 7.5 over a stock 8.8.
