Is this an ok way for changing brake pads?

I just swapped my brake pads and now it jsut hit me that maybe their is a certain way to do this. I was swapping rotors and calipers as well so this is what I did.

1. Pulled off entire caliper and rotor
2. Popped off pads from new caliper
3. Popped new pads on to new caliper
4. Popped caliper onto new rotor
5. Bolted rotor and caliper to the car
6. Change brake fluid/bleed it.

I found this hi temp grease in hte box for the pads, was I supposed to use that somewhere? Was I supposed to shim anything or whatever? Am I going to live? I didnt change the brake fluid yet so I can still go back and fix whatever. What do I need to do or am I good?

use brake clean for the rotors, otherwise youll warp them later if you got grease and/oil on them. the grease that you found in the box is to help from sqeaking. put it on teh end of the pads wherever it touches metal. your pads move and this stops teh metal to metal friction.
