I just checked out a 78 king cobra project car. The asking price is $1500, it is complete, but in pieces. He has rear quarter panels that have not been put on as yet. I would be buying this car as a project for my son and me, this would end up being his car. He is very young and this car will spend the next few years sitting around. I could shop out things I don't want to do in the mean time. I am new to the Mustang II world, and am presently shopping for an 05. What to you guys think? I thought this would be a cool car for him to learn mechanics on and a great father son project.
any input is appreciated!

If it is a King Cobra, it would have probably the most resale value of any of the Mustang II models. Check the buck tag (screwed to the radiator support) for the letters KC or KNG stamped into it.

If it's a straight body with no evidence of rusted out floor pans, door bottoms, hatch, battery tray, etc. it should easily be money well spent.

If you find out that all of the parts are not there, don't expect to find replacements readily available for a II though. At least not compared to most year mustangs.
