Is this excessive heat normal?!?

Ok..its one thing to feel this when its hot out but on a 70 something odd degree night its a little to much! I have to run the ac on the floor to get rid of it...here is the story..

My GF was complaining about alot of heat blowing on her legs form under the dash...I didn't feel anything so I kicked on the AC being the nice BF that I am..well I wore shorts the other day and I too felt ALOT of heat blowing on my legs and it felt as if my leg hair was burning off lol..So I sat in the pass side and it was 10x hotter! Theonly thing I can think of is I have by passed the leaking heater core and not plugged the inlets or outlets on the core itself under the hood...so what in the hell could be causing this? I keep the vent fan in the OFF position 90% of the time...

I have an 03 GT and when it is mild ouside, 60-70F, the inside of my car feels like the heat is on, both floor and dash. Anyone have any ideas?

I feel nothing from the dash..I NEVER use my floor vents..maybe these are open all the time by default..maybe we could close them manually or something as they may be letting in alot of heat..I dont think at all it is tranny heat or anything...seems to get a little stronger as you go up in RPMs

when the temp control is int he blue the a/c blend deoor should be closed shuting off the heater core from air flow. but the heater core always has coolant going too it unless you have max a/c on.

if you have air flow coming in check the a/c heater inlet door. this door is what allows outside air too come in. in the off pos. it should be closed and have vacumm.

so in the passenger side foot well near the blower motor you should see a vacumm line with a white end on it. make sure it's connected too it's vac motor and the heater inlet door is shut in the off poss. with full vac going too it.

ok start there and keep us posted.

mike you always give great advice so I will start by looking there and see what I can figure out and maybe that will lead to something..seems to be a common problem but I never get to drive my car bc the GF is always complaining about the heat..

is there a way to make that door stay closed at all times? I NEVER use air or heat in the floor and would rather eliminate the problem completely...

it's probaly a simple problem the vac line might have fell off or is pinched.

but you can wedge the door shut by hand if you want too. if you get that door closed or if it is already closed let us know. that white vac line going too the vac motor should have full vacumm with the engine running and the selector switch in the off pos.

Awesome Mike..like I said I always trust your word and I will try and check it all out tonight and post back asap..I am waiting to get DSL installed at home so it may be in the morning when I psot back from a buddy's house but once again thanks a ton and I will check it

i got a 2002 mustang gt and it used to run hot all the time, with the predator tune and a 160 thermostat it runs a lot cooler. you might put in a 180 degree thermostat if you still want to use youre heater though

Ok Mike and everyone else following this thread..the vent has good vacume and is closed like it should be and when it should be..however..right on the floor board under the pass side dash there is like a plastic pipe that runs back out of the car..seems like maybe something around a blower motor or something..I wish I had a pic but I dont yet..any way..it has no gasket or nothing..and I can see the ground underneath when I look at it..is it possible cool air is pushing hot air form under the hood back up and into that? Thats all I can really think of is maybe it used to have a seal of some kind and it has been remmoved or fallen out or something...

i had the hot hot heat problem after i burnt my firewall gormet when installing my exhaust. there is a hole right underneath your carpeting that should have a gromet there. pop that off, and take a look at your manifold/header bolt!. i got sick of looking around for a replacement gromet, and just folded up a old sweatshirt, and stuffed it underneath my carpeting, and havent had any complaints since.
i actually felt this heat also. yes it felt like my pants were on fire, i let that one hot chick drive my car and me around town a week ago. came up with that idea while rideing.

Mike I will try my best and get a pic of that posted up for you...I am having a hard time keeping going bc I dont have the internet at home right now due to having to cut back expenses...I like the idea of putting something under the carpet and may actually take some rvt sealent or something similar and fill in the holw or something..the best way to describe that peice is that it is more of a plastic pipe looking peice..
