Is this normal???

Let my brother in law take her for a spin on Saturday and he noticed that the RPM's seem to hang a little in between shift's and he didn't think this was normal. This is my first performance manual so I don't have a clue but he's owned like five 5.0's back in the day and he didn't think his manuals were like that. Are they supposed to drop right down in between shifts or hang a little before they do.....is this normal operation? Other than that the car runs absolutely fine and he was very surpised with the power.

Yes, the revs seem to stick longer than the older generation 5.0's. It's just new technology, nothing to worry about.

Mine does it too. I noticed it but not until after flashing with the Brenspeed tune, but I hadn't romped on it until after the tune.

Yes it is normal for a stock one. You may notice two things... throttle lag and the hanging RPM's when you let off the fast pedal.

Both are a part of the programming for the throttle by wire in the new Mustangs. Both can be tuned out by using either the Predator or the SCT tuners.

It's for the emmisions/fuel system. Basically it ensures that unburnt fuel is used.

it can be changed in the tune if you really want to get rid of it.

Mine stopped after the preditor tune and the throtle response was much better.

+1 Alot of things were done to make the new mustang conform to ULEV II standards, and produce on 50% of the emissions of the last generation Mustang, to include those butterfly valves in the intake runners.
