hi, I have a 2012 mustang GT stick. After driving for about 30 minutes, when I come to a stop and the engine is idling I would hear a tick noise that is not loud. It seems to be coming from the engine compartment. When I turn the car off, wait 15 minutes, then restart it, the noise would be gone. I was wondering weather or not this is normal? thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hey Will3212!

Without hearing the noise, it is difficult to determine if it is normal. You may want to let your dealer know about it at your next service appointment, or give them a call to schedule an appointment since you are concerned. Let me know if you have any questions!

my 07 has a similar ticking noise and when i got an oil change, the person said that it was because every now and then i needed to use synthetic oil instead of regular. you may want to try that.

I would be guessing if I tried to determine why it is ticking, so I definitely think you should speak to your dealer and let them hear it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Vr00m,

5W-30 Premium Synthetic is the recommended oil, so that may explain your ticking. Maintenance Specifications are listed on page 243 of the Owner's Guide. Hope that helps!

I am hearing a clicking noise, sounds like it is in the dash behind the ignition switch on my 2010 GT. I only started hearing it recently and only once in awhile. It goes away after a few seconds.
Anyone have that??

That engine compartment tick is not normal to me. I would bring it to the dealer ASAP!

Hey stanmckinney,

I agree with Nuar on bringing it to the dealer just for peace of mind. If they aren't able to diagnose it, I'm here to help.
