i have a 97 gt... and i was getting a new motor for it a while back and i was told the reason the newer model 99-04 makes more power stock is mostly in the intake... i was wondering if i would be able to get a intake manifold from a 99-04 and put it on my 97? if it would fit and all that would it actually add power? thanks a lot guys... you know a lot more about this stuff than i do lol!

guys do it all the time, it's called a PI swap.

GT engines from 96-98 are called Non-PI, and 99-04 are called PI, Performance Improvement. The cams, heads, and intake are slightly different, and make 260hp compared to the 96-98 225hp. Very popular, very available, and a pretty good modification with few problems. If you're going to go that far, maybe look into finding the other components for that swap and do it all at the same time, so the difference would be night and day.

ok awesome! i don't really have all the stuff to do the heads and cam... would i gain anything from just doing the intake? and would it still be ok with just that? also is it something thats pretty hard to do?

Yes. If you do a PI Intake Swap you will gain HP and infact a good bit, the best swap if you do not wont to do the PI Head swap is to do PI Intake & PI Cams which net more gains.

^ what he said lol

Score yourself a set of pi cams, you can find a good used set for cheap from pi motors that switch to aftermarket cams
