Last night I had the mustang out and went up to the local cruise spot to hang out for a little bit. The whole evening was relaxing, just me and my stang cruising, the exhaust , the torque. ya know just being in the zone. Well i pull up to the spot and hang out for a while. Its very rare that I show up to this things anymore, so everyone was kinda gawking and asking where I have been and stuff like that. Well when it comes time to leave, a guy I know is telling his friends how "Nasty my car is" and it does the sickest second gear rolling burnout. Then he comes to me and was like. Corey, light em up when you get out there. Show us something." I was like... OK. I pulled out, and drove like an old lady. Later about a half mile from home I did a nice 3/4 pull through 3rd gear out by myself for my enjoyment. It just made me think about all the times my car was broke cause I had to show off, and be the Bad A$$. Any of you guys realize you dont do the same stupid stuff you did when you were 16? i have had the same red mustang for going on 10 years now, from the time I was 16. And i JUST recently figured out, haha, i feel like this is a thread a mother would write.. but just wondering nonetheless..

I know exactly what you mean, i'm only 19 but dont do any of the stupid crap i thought was "cool" when i was 16.
Its crazy seeing all those people doing burnouts and showing off and me being embarassed that i used to do that a few years ago :(

...of course, my 4dr 150hp car cant do much anyways

I had this same realization a few years ago. At the time I was driving a 94 GT vert, bone stock. My and my then bud, who had a 94 Gt coupe, were heading out on the 4 lane(I-485) into Pineville for some freewaytime in the Stangs and to catch a movie at the mall there. We're cruisin along at about 70 at these idiots in Hondas come speeding up from behind doing about 90, weaving in and out of traffic and pass us. I shake my head, but my buddy goes after em to show em who's boss. Well, in no time flat they are out of sight, so I just kept going, and finally catch homie at the exit. when we get to the theatre, I ask him how he did. He said he left em at about 115 cause they were too scared and let up. I told him he was a friggin idiot and could have killed somebody. As I said those words, it dawned on me, Holy crap! Thats something my dad would say.LOL. I mean, when we first started hanging out, years before the Mustangs, we would try to slap hands at 60 mph and go down entrance ramps side by side, and we would fly down the road to his house that had 4 killer banked curves, doin 50mph with no headlights at night. My how age creeps up on ya. All you youngsters reading this, it's gonna happen before ya know it lol. One day you'll look at somebody showing off and say to your self or someone else"that guys an idot."and then you'll know you're OLD:jaw:

Hey im about to turn 18, and sure I do stupid things, but I realise what your saying, sometimes I get in that mode where you just wanna cruise and relax, and ricer comes flying by you at 75mph and you just keep looking straight with one hand on the wheel, other arm out the window cruising. I was cruising in a parking lot today and some hot ass chick yells DO A BURNOUT i just smilled and went on my way.

nope not gonna click it. Thanks and all, but um, no.
The first time I heard that song I walked out of the store that was playing it and havent been back. Saying you want that song played at your wedding is exactly what this thread is about.lol

:p

when i was 18 i woul dlight em up in my moms aerostar (people still talk about this one burnout it did) now i drive sane and don't really show off, i figure i know how fast my car is and i don't need to prove it to anyone

I skipped all the stupid crap and went right into being boring

I get my kicks in other ways, not by acting up.

I bought my car when i was about 22. If i had this thing at 16 i probably wouldn't be talking to you.

Im happy with being safe, and having fun.

But I have ran over my share of garbage cans and blown up enough mail boxes in my days

I turned 32 in August and I look back some of the stuff that I did when I was younger and just say to myself "what was I thinking". It is kinda weird when you first notice a change in your thought process about doin crazy stuff with your car. Now mind you I'll still get on it and mess around with the Mustang and all but its not just at the drop of a hat or cause some wants me to "light em up" for their own gratification.

On a side note,

Quikstang I think that I have seen you around at some cruise ins and such a while back in Orlando. I used to hang out with MMORL at the sonic up on University for a while and for some reason I seem to remember someone named Corey that had a red GT. That you?

Im 35 this month.

You know your growing up when you see all the younger crowd and you realize how immature they are.

Being 24 now it was about a year ago that I toned it down and started acting more mature behind the wheel of my mustangs. With me if I lose my license I can't work at my dealership anymore, my job is a lot more important to me than my ego.
