It happened, got in an accident with the 'Stang.

I got into my first accident a couple of weeks ago. Some moron tried to make a left turn in front of me, and plowed right into me. Here are pics of the Mustang and the other driver's car (Dodge Stratus). Can you say Built Ford Tough? The damage to my Mustang was $2850. Don't know what the Dodge estimate was. The Dodge's air bags deployed but mine didn't. The other driver and her passengers left in an ambulance. I drove away (neck strain and muscle spasms in my shoulder). Not an experience I would recommend. I feel for you, Power4.

that the 05+ airbags dont go off very much unless u hit reall hard.

My son totalled his '05 last month. 60mph, took out 9 trees and an old fence. Fell asleep on a Sunday afternoon ran right up a guard rail and thankfully hit the trees while in flight. After kicking the passenger side door he was able to get out unhurt. The rollback driver/bodyshop owner said '' I'll tell ya what, that car was built real damn good to look the way it does after hitting all them trees''. The insurance company totalled it and he was in another '05 stang 4 days later.

Troy..I didn't see where anyone else asked, how'd you do that? I assume you rolled
:jaw:

Power4.. I feel your pain. You'll work through it though, my wife was rear ended sitting at a stop light. Lucky for me the Ford tech was willing to swap in Shelby bumper. I only paid the difference in cost.

Just make sure everything is right when you get it back. Check all your gaps, color match and especially for dry spots or runs in the paint.

Thanks for the tip speed1972. I still haven't heard from the body shop yet and apparently the insurance company just got the appraisal so it may be a while before I get her back to check her out.

Well I talked with the body shop today and they said the repairs are coming along nicely. It's taken for freakin' ever for the insurance company to get it's **** in order. So when I hopefully get the 'Stang back I'll have been without her for about a month :(

Can't wait to have her back though, sometimes you don't what you have until you're without it. Just thinking of the power of the V8, the sound of it, and the looks... mmmmmm.

any updates?

Yup. I went to go see her in the shop last Friday. They had replaced the quarter panel and it was being prepped for paint on Monday (today). The guy told me that they had no problems getting the new panels on and it all fit like a glove, which is a good indication that no frame or mechanical stuff was damaged. After they paint it today they're gunna check all the mechanicals to make sure it's alright and I should have her back by the end of the week. It's going to be nice to drive the 'stang again. I've gotten too used to this beige rental Focus that smells like cigarettes and fast food.

Hooray! I finally got the 'Stang back after a long and painful time without her while they repaired various parts. After driving a rental Focus for a while it was an incredible rush just driving it back from the body shop to work (and I didn't even get on it, much). It's amazing how awesome it just feels to sit in the car, never mind when you fire it up and listen to the awesome engine. I missed it terribly.

The body shop did an awesome job, feels like new and looks better than before I got in the accident. There were a few chips and scratches they fixed up elsewhere on the body for me. Only thing is there's a handful of places on the paint where there's a small bump. Not noticeable to most people but I figure I can probably take those off with some clay bar.

Here's a pic taken with my crappy camera phone of her sitting outside my office :D

Awesome... Glad to hear you got it back... Those small bumps in the paint you are talking about are runs. I would take it back and show it to them. They will wetsand and buff those areas. Should only take an hour or two to fix. If it doesn't come out or it breaks through, they'll need to repaint it. I wouldn't settle for anything less......

I bet it's nice to have her back after any length of time.
