It just isn't loud enough!!!

You are going to want to go with SLP LM1's or Magnapacks, The Pypes Violator might be another option. But like most people said, the loudness factor is all from the mid pipe. A high flow catted pipe will add the noticeable exhaust note without being over the top. Unfortunately, most 4.6 cars idle pretty mellow unless you put cams in your car. Cams are really going to help the idle rumble.

Your going to have to either put in a set a cams or ditch the catted pipe to achieve what you want unfortunately

I'm going to be ordering a set of Hi-tech Stage 2 cams very soon...as in like today.

I agree, I think they will have a big impact on how my car sounds.

The electric cutouts that I've found are really expensive!

And yes, my glasspacks are straight flow design.

Just so, everyone knows what I'm working with here. Picture was taken right before the new drive shaft, gear, and x-pipe was installed.

The cams will make it quite a bit louder at idle.

I had VT Stage 2's in my car for a while, then the motor took a crap and I had it replace.. while the cams weren't in it after that, I could barely tell my car was idling even though I have SLP LT's, SLP O/R X-pipe and flowmasters.. but once the cams were put back in it got pretty loud at idle compared to how it was without the cams.

And like they said, cats are going to make your car a lot tamer sounding, especially at idle.

If you're going to keep the cats, you should try the SLP LMI catback.. they're pretty loud, but not too terribly loud with a catted x-pipe.

However, if you were to ever consider LMI's and an O/R X-pipe.. take this into account: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNhPwng8bkU

That's a video a friend (Helty) and I shot a while back on his '02 GT before he sold it.. SLP LMI's and SLP O/R X-pipe on a GT with bolt-on's. You might notice a funny sound (not the car), which is me trying to hold back my laughter because it sounds so horrible.. worst sounding setup i've ever heard in my life.

Oh really? Damn i have lt's, o/r x, and dumped lm1's and i wouldn't change a thing about how it sounds. BTW its louder than hell. Its all in personal opinion though.

LT's change the sound quite a bit, so it might sound alright in your setup.. but with the stock manifolds, it sounds awful. Did you even click that link?.. There's no way anyone in their right mind can watch that and think ,"damn, I want my car to sound like that"

I had a friend with a Mach1 who had o/r x-pipe with dumped LMI's and it sounded ridiculous.. sounded like a 1976 chevy pickup. Also had a few friends with the O/R X-pipe and Borla Stingers setup, which I thought sounded awful as well.. those setups are just raw and loud, no tone to it.. just loud and poppy.

I don't know i just like how it doesn't have a really distinct tone. I'm tired of every mustang i see/hear sounding exactly alike as if they all had the same exact exhaust setup. Not to say they don't sound awesome. Like i said just personal preference.

I know you dont wanna replace your mid but the mac prochamber is sick sounding with some flowmasters. Thats what I have and it sounds awesome. Just gotta change out the cats once a year, but IMO its definitely worth it!

One of my friends was sponsored by SLP for a while. He had stock manifold, SLP off road X, and the LM1 catback. He wore earplugs when he drove the car most of the time becuause it was so obnoxiously loud. IMO it sounded like **** at extreme volumes.

Psh, 80s junker my ass.

If that video doesn't make you wet your pants, you're on crack!

that sounds like dog ****.

Does anyone have an o/r h instead of the x? I don't think i've heard that.
um look below...i posted it earlier in this thread...maybe you didn't read.....
