My oil pressure sensor is 3/4 of the way in, it is really in there tightly. It seems to be between sizes or something cause i cant find a socket that fits it perfectly, and comes with rounded off corners on it for some reason making it a pain to get on it with something with out slipping off. Roughed it up from slipping off, it is possible that I cracked it from grabbing it with vice grips, had to hammer a crows foot on and off to get it as far in as I did and it is still not even in all the way. It threaded on by finger nicely so i dont think that it is cross threaded. What now?

Thanks

You need a special socket from Ford to fit the oil pressure sensor. I put mine in with channel locks, actually. As long as it's in there, isn't getting any tighter, and isn't coming loose, I bet you're safe. It doesn't have to bottom out in the hole to read the oil pressure.

Really watch it. You can piss away 5 quarts of oil pretty quick if the housing cracked or the sender falls out.

Did you dress the threads? That should have helped it thread on further than it would dry (lower mew than dry threads) and might help seals things............

I used a crescent wrench on it.

Good luck.

... not gonna lie, but when i stumbled across this thread i thought it mightve been a personal problem... man, gotta get my head outta the gutter sometimes LOL

I had the same thought. I bit my lip though. :p

EDIT: At the time of this edit, the thread right below this one starts:

how hard is it to install long tube.......

:rlaugh:

Where can I get this special Ford oil pressure sensor socket, everything I tried kept slipping off. I dressed the threads with clear permatex, didnt seem to help it go in. I think im going to take it out and put in another new one, I dont like doing things half way. I want to make sure its done right.

Just in case he goes to get an extension, those threads are 1/4" NPT.

If you get fed up, you could use a fox III log.

Good luck.

Its in!!! ...(thats a quote from Mclovin from Superbad)... lol. I took the new one out that I had definately messed up trying to put in, and put in another new one. Used a 1" 12 point deep socket, but I had to remove 2 of the 3 bolts from the thing (not sure what to call it) the powersteering and AC compressor are mounted on, so i could rotate the whole assembly up out of the way to make room for that deep socket and wrench. Worked great, thanks for the help.

Oh thats right 1/4 pipe my bad , shoot me..............atleast I know why I got the I'm with stupid sign now(94) tough crowd try to help a guy out and get the old I'm with stupid sign. Geezz!

No need to get touchy. Chris was agreeing with the sentiments in your statement ( :stupid: is a good emoticon).

And I only said something because the original dude might need to go buy some brass (if he does an extension, etc). Otherwise when I see errors that won't really matter or affect what someone does, I just keep my correction to myself.
