It's console adding time. Stock or Humhugger?

don't mean to start anything, but, if your looking for a place for your arm isn't that what the window is for? or the 4spd?

Well, first off I have a 3spd, and second, the shifter is too far forward to put my elbow on it. I'd have to lean way over and my head would just peep above the dash. The window isn't an option either, I'd have to twist like a pretzel to hang my right arm out of the driver window or sit in the middle to get it on the passenger window and then I don't think I could reach the clutch anymore. I'm not some kind of contorsionist or a mail man ya know, I can't do that. I'm afraid your ideas aren't helping much at all.

Have the Humphugger in my Maverick, and it is perfect. Then, of course, maverick never really had a decent console. I will stick with stock in my Mustang.

50 bucks a piece for stock consoles is pretty good. Shoot, check '
em out, buy 'em both and resell the one you don't use. My Mach 1 came with the console and the ashtray is a nice place to set guages (ala '69/70 shelby) Without hacking up the interior or making it look hang on.
I don't think I've heard of '69 consoles being 'short' and 'long' - I've head of with the belt holders and without though. Short and long usually refer to the 65- 66 consoles with and without air conditioning - due to the hang on nature of the air those years.

Yup, this is correct. My guess is that you have 2 consoles for 65/66. One that has been cut for the AC and one that has the little storage compartment in it.

Buy 'em both and if they don't fit, sell 'em both. That way, you'll get your 100 back and get a humphugger for free with the profit. If you don't like it, put it on ebay, too, and get your money back.

Mine too, I purchased a console insert for a manual tranny. Besides getting a boot, that is all you should need to use the stock console with a T-5.

Why not make your own? I took the idea from a 68 Shelby design and modified it to work in my 66. Stiched and covered it in vinyl, made a fiberglass tray for the back portion and added a leather boot for the shifter (auto right now). Even used a late model stang e-brake.

I've gone through several versions of making my custom console over the past 9 months. I wasn't happy with the look using the fiberboard/vinyl approach. Just couldn't get the overall look I am goin for. I have come up with a different idea on how to make my console and am currently getting the supplies to embark on this project. If it works it should be pretty cool. I need to get on it to mount my gauge console, switch panel, and to hide the wire "tubes" running from front to back along the tunnel. I'll post after the initial try to let you guys know how well it worled

I love my stock console, so much that the only thing holding me back from a T5 swap is not being able to use my stock console.

To me, a console like the one in the pic would look out of place.

Where did you get the idea that you cant use the stock console with a T-5? Its works fine if you use the shift handle that looks like a stock 4 speed shifter. The shifter comes right thru the stock hole just like ford wanted it to be that way. If you have an automatic,all you need is the console plate for a standard, you can get a repro or scour around for a nice used one.

That does look nice tweet, but as for why not, well I'm not much of a seamstress, I have no real creative fiberglass experience and for what my time is worth per hour, I would have to have it completed in less than 2 hours to make it even remotely worth my while. I am a pretty decent artist and fabricator and have no doubt I could come up with something but I simply have way more time than money these days.
