Today is exactly one month since I've purchased my 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5L RS [Non-Turbo'd].
Over the past month I've noticed that I've had more people trying to race me than ever. Mostly being Hondas, Mazdas, and Talon/Eclipses.
When driving my Mustang I have never had so many people make these attempts.
While my Impreza is a blast to drive [4wd, 5speed, great on gas] it lacks power [it has 175HP which isn't bad for a lil' 4 banger], but to upgrade it at all would be some major buck.

I've thought about selling the Mustang, trading back in the Impreza and getting a STi or even an Evolution. After thinking about this I've decided to keep my Mustang for a few reasons besides cost:

1. The Mustang is a legend. My mothers first car was a 1970 Mustang, my father has owned quite a few of them, and now I've owned a few. I've learned that it isn't always about speed. It's about looking good, having the respect of what you own, and knowing what it really is. I'm not saying that I bought my Mustang for the name. I'm saying that the name has grown to mean something to me.

2. The reason that I receive more people wanting to race me in the Impreza is because the Impreza _IS_ just a 4 banger. I know that, you know that, the people racing me know that. They think they stand a chance against me, hence wanting to race; If they wanna race then pull over, decide where and when, then I'll show up with a car that's really race worthy. Otherwise quit wasting my time and trying to show off to your girlfriend in the passenger seat, You wouldn't be acting the same way if your mother was in the car and honestly what the **** are you thinking trying to race with that thing?

3. There are quite a few 4 banger cars that I have come to respect. The SRT-4's are great little cars. You can get one for around $20,000, have it run 12's for an extra 5k, and it's a fun little car to drive. Even the new GT Mustang can't touch it for $25,000.
The STi/WRX/Impreza is a great little car. It's not the fastest car on the block for sure, but the WRX/STi will have no problem running 13's all day - rain or shine, sadly I can't say the same for our Mustangs. These cars are also a blast to drive around turns and curves.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is just like the Imprezas except that do have quite a bit more power. With that power though comes their ****ty drivetrain that is bound to break at least three times in the first year you own it, if you plan on doing any modifications.
Also with all of these cars it's a constant up-hill battle with the new technology. The computers have to be re-flashed/programmed with most modifications.

Now with that being said, I have this question for you guys:

I have a 1994 5.0L AODE 302 Mustang. I know our blocks break at around 500HP.
What are we doing to keep these pesky little SRT4's off of our tails? My friend has a SRT4 with a 60trim on it pushing more than 19psi. Beautiful car, great work on it, and pretty damn fast.

It'd be a horrible to let the Mustang name down.

My friend sold his 05 STI and went with a new 07 mustang gt. He had it for a year and got pissed off since the mods to the sti were costly and didnt gain that much. He was also mad when I would pretty much keep up with him off the nitrous and yes that is off a dig, only 2 cars every time. When I was on nitrous he got beat pretty badly on a leaking solenoid and only 850psi (almost empty tank) which sprayed down to 600psi and wasnt increasing in pressure. Also he didnt like the idea of my $8500 car(cost of parts and the car) was beating his $30k car. I still beat his mustang but it is faster than his STI and the mods take better, like intake and tune, gears, full exhaust and with some decent tires and you could be in the high 12's with a new GT. Also my friend has beaten STIs and SRT4s in his new GT since he got it. He said the SRT4 was the closest though

To keep up get a turbo on your car and tune it around 450rwhp to 500rwhp. You will then probably have one of the faster STREET cars in your area.
