You might want to invest in an innovative LM-1 or LC-1. They are $200 but you will probably need one in the future and they are worth their weight in gold.
So if I got the commander system , does this take over the fuel mapping of the ecu? and I could keep my current ignition system and keep it distributorless? :shrug: Ah 4.6L v8's were sooo much easier :(

Ok done some reading , and I could keep it. I would just need to upgrade injectors and the fuel pump and put a fuel pressure gauge on. Thanks alot , finally some help from someone that is not so pessimistic about the dual plug engine. I know the internals are cast , but i'm not lookin for a hot rod , just a daily driver with more than a 100 or so hp. So , my list would be

35lb ford motorsport injectors
colder plugs
a votech t rex fuel pump or comprable
Fuel pressure gauge
boost gauge
Power commander system
tbird stock innercooler
IHI turbo with manifold and piping
downpipe
exaust

in theory the dual plug head would have a better chance of controlling the fuel mix because of 2 plugs per cylinder... :shrug: . And if I wanted to turn up the boost , just get forged internals. I'm not the one to follow the pack guys, just to let you know that, you say it cant be done , i say it can and be safe and reliable.... :flag:
 
you still havent covered what you're going to do about the computer accepting these larger injectors?? you'll need a chip so it accepts them.

it wont run for crap otherwise with them considering its setup for like 14lb'ers.

is this what this "power commander" thing is?

I still think it would be cheaper to get an LA3/big vam and a distributor/coil from the junkyard for cheap and just convert over.

Oh, and I also never said it cant be done or whatnot...just seems more trouble than it's worth but whatever floats your boat.
 
An LA3/Large VAM and distributor/coil and turbo head would be the best idea but...

Throwing that much fuel at idle and the ECU will not know what to do with it and it will run like dog****...either get it chipped or get a megasquirt.

Don't worry about what others say. Right now I'm in the process of swapping my friends N/A block to forged internals/turbo head/svo cam/LB3/LVAM/Low-imp 35#/255lph/24"x7"x3.5" intercooler/hy35 with stock WGA setting. So far it's come out a lot LESS than what finding a turbo motor/rebuild and upgrades would cost.

So if i did the distributor buildup you dont see any problems with my setup at 10 psi? Whats your aim screen name?

Since the large Vam, LA3/LB3, and 35# low impedence injectors is what the 87-88 Turbocoupes use which is rated safe until around say 300hp (which you won't be making and better not attempt to) you'll have plenty of fuel thrown at 10 p.s.i. and driveability shouldn't suffer. Have you ever heard of a turbocoupe pinging and detonating at it's stock boost settings? I haven't and I would say it's safe on the cast pistons.

You are going to have an intercooler, correct?

Yes, you can use a turbo computer and still run the dual plug ignition.
The major obsticle would be controlling the base timing. The dual plug setup is like running an extra 7-8* of timing all around, so you would have to retard the base timing (of course, you can't do that since you don't have a distributer).
One solution could be to trim a 1/16" off the magnet attached to the block. That would effectivly reduce the timing (I forget by how much).
I added a turbo to my NA 88 stang (with the Lb3, vam and 35lb injectors). I lasted a good 6 months before a vacume hose popped off the fpr. Of course, that made a major lean condition and broke the rings in #2. Any tiny thing goes wrong, and you have a pile of scrape metal in the engine bay.
Do it the right way and you'll save MONEY, TIME and EFFORT. trust me.
