Check this out. I believe this may be some consumer feedback from those JD Power surveys.

The 2004 GTO earned

4 of 5 stars for comfort
5 of 5 stars for features and instrument panel
5 of 5 stars for performance
3 of 5 stars for styling
5 of 5 stars for overall appeal

Glad to see GTO buyers are a happy bunch. Unfortunately, there's no data for you 2005 owners yet. What about the Mustang you say? Well, let's take a look:

2 of 5 stars for comfort
3 of 5 stars for features and instrument panel
3 of 5 stars for performance
4 of 5 stars for styling
3 of 5 stars for overall appeal

Please note how the Mustang scores an impressive 3 of 5 stars in mechanical quality. As I've been saying -- Ford cut major corners on the Mustang -- and people are finally going to wise up that stuff like the seats are complete garbage.

Bottom line? The GTO is a great, great car -- and kicks the Mustang square in the backside.

0 posts? You must be one of "those" people who actually think the GTO is a beautiful cavalier. And are convinced it is actually something to consider buying. (of course, with 0 posts, you would know DocGTO is the exception as he has a great deal of class). Can we say together "Troll".

I don't know how he has zero posts. He was on here last week stirring $hit up. He must have been banned and re-registered.

I found different ratings:

2004 GTO earned

2 of 5 stars for comfort
3 of 5 stars for features and instrument panel
5 of 5 stars for performance
1 of 5 stars for styling
3 of 5 stars for overall appeal

2005 Mustang GT

4 of 5 stars for comfort
4 of 5 stars for features and instrument panel
5 of 5 stars for performance
5 of 5 stars for styling
5 of 5 stars for overall appeal

Just goes to show...without linking your source, it's just numbers on a screen.

JohnnyT-you're wrong on the seats. One of the nicest surprises of my new 05 is how well the seats fit me. I love the seats, and I even like the way the headrests sit. I am 6'5" so i am very sensitive to the way I fit in a car. My last car was a 45 k A-6 2.7T, and the seats were not nearly as comfortable as the new stang seats. The car is not perfect, but it's pretty nice for me.

I looked up JD Powers & Associates and it showed the 05 Mustang as being rated as below:

Mechanical Quality 3 out of 5
Features 4 out of 5
Body/Interior quality 5 out of 5
Overall quality 4 out of 5

Funny the Mustang is hard to come by and I can get a GTO, if I wanted one, without any problem. What does that say about demand?
Also, I thought this was a Mustang forum? GTOs belong somewhere else.

To bad there isnt some sort of prescreening process that keeps completely ignorant rednecks from registering on this forum.

Heres a link if you really want to see how they compare.

http://www.jdpower.com

And they only have it for the 04 GTO, no data on the 05. Guess no one is buying them. Maybe the overall appeal should be 1 or 2 out of 5. Good engine and straight line preformance but bad styling imo.

Regardless of your thoughts and opinions... And those of JD's as well... (You probably us the Consumer reports mag to buy stereo)... I like my GT, I will drive it like I like it... It looks better than the GTO and I have had no issues with the car since I picked it up and I have over 9K miles on it so far.

BTW... Nice first post... Can't you find another (GTO) board to troll on?

Going by mags huh? Well thats a complete waste of time. If you want to know which YOU will like better, go out and test drive both. You'll see which is a better car. Mustang GT hands down. As a disclaimer, I have only test driven the 04 GTO but thats what they are comparing anyway.
Just my $0.02.

The mechanical quality score doesn't surprise given the various TSB's out on this car. Nonetheless, the issues are relatively minor and easily resolved. I've had my gas tank and shaker replaced, but I'd still buy this car if I had to do it all over again.

Do they even have scores for the new gen of stang? Ford had both the old and new models listed for 2005 on their website for the first few months of this year.

PLEASE DO NOT ban this guy! What a great insight into how some (not all, Doc!) GTO fanatics have the wit and taste of brake-dust. Johnny, you're a clown of biblical proportions (there were clowns in the bible, right?).

Keep up the posts, Johnny - we Mustang buyers start feeling superior to GTO owners just cos we bought a tasteful auto, but you help remind us that we also narrowly missed joining a jealous, petty-minded, "sleeper"( )-owning sub-set of car buyers.

Too funny, Johnny. Too funny!
