I used ramps to install my cat back without too much trouble with space. I dont see why ramos wont work just fine for the fuel filter.

ramps will be faster and provide ample space, use them.

Yeah, using a jack on the pumpkin would be bad. I was thinking about getting some SUV/truck ramps, so I have a little more clearance for myself. I got the filter and the spring release tool but DAMN, $11 for it , guess thats the cost of maintaining your own vehicle.

Non-slip mod? Is that a mod you do yourself?

Now that everyone has said ramps, I've always use a floor jack and jack stands to chg the fuel filter.
I'm I the only one who has never used ramps on the back tires...?
One of the side benefits of subframe connectors is the ability to jack up one corner and the entire rear end goes up. Then, I just slide a pair of stands underneath and get er done.

i like too jack the car up and use jack stands for work where i have too remove the wheels.. but for a fuel filter the ramps are easier.. but i have only used these in a pinch on a friends car.. i have 21 lifts and a alignment rack at work. i am too spoiled too work on my back anymore.

x2

My rhino ramps never slide with my pony. My stupid ex's Blazer would alway push them around so I had to use 10' 2x4s to brace them from the wall so they would stay put. My bronco is so high up that I don't need ramps to get underneath it.

I have subframes with jacking rails too. Nice when you need them. I've jacked my car on the pumpkin... maybe that's why it developed a leak recently.

Standard 2 x 10 framing lumber. They don't slide.

He dremeled out some 2x10s for a groove to accept the ramp. The tire would meet the wood first and then the ramp, removing any opportunity for slippage/skidding of the ramps. Not high-tech, mind you, but the site had good pics and a good write up.
