JLT CAI/SCT II vs. C&L/Diablosport

ok, let the opinions/facts fly. the next mods to my wife's 06 GT will be a CAI/Tuner combo. right now, JLT offers their CAI and the SCT II tuner for $555.00 and RPM Outlet has the C&L with either the Diablosport or the SCT tuner for $499.00 with free shipping. i know it will be hard to tell which is the actual BEST, but i know some of you are running one of these setups. let's here the opinions and facts, also, which tune did you use, 87,98,or 93 octane?

I have the JLT W/ SCT 2,
it works well with no issues. I bought mine from JLT and it was few bucks cheaper. :D

i would not buy one yet. If you look at the Stangnet home page you will see that there will be a release of a SCT Livewire, there is also a link to their website. I have not seen a release date yet but it looks like it is worth the wait.:SNSign:

JLT beat the C&L in the jan. 06 shootout test in HP & TQ.
Also, be careful buying from RPM as they are not known for good after the sale service.

Also JLT has,
color match
Plastic
larger open ended filter

Let me know if I can help you. Call and we'll see about getting closer to that RPM price.:D

BTW, we will have the SCT live wire, but don't expect it out till after Christmas.

thanks! my wife came home today and said, "i want more horsepower for my car" so i have to ablige. what kind of prelim pricing is the SCT Livewire? can you say yet?

I don't have a CAI yet but have been researching it for awhile and the JLT seems to offer the most bang for the buck. The only reason I've waited this long is that I have a buddy who is an SCT dealer and I'm trying to see if he can't
get me a better deal on the Xcal.

RPM outlet will not send you Diablo Pn#cl7140 for the c&l cold air kit, they send you one for the stock mustang, and then you'll spend weeks trying to have them email the tunes to you, it to 2 months for me, I sent it back, then they sent me a Diablo with all current cold air tunes, I thought cool, well guess what, it only has a 91 0ctane tune for the C&L. There service sucks, and they lied. good luck.

C&L with Brenspeed tuned SCT X2 is one I'd second. I have the diablo tuner and it's OK, if you have an automatic though, get the SCT. I'm going to be upgrading from the Diablo to the SCT on my GT in the spring.

And WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT SHOP AT RPM OUTLET THEY WILL SCREW YOU SIX WAYS FROM SUNDAY.

And yes that was me shouting. Just do a search for RPM in this forum and you'll find a bunch of info on the plight I had just getting my kit and then after the fact the complete screwing I received. I'm still out $100+ from dealing with them.

I've had nothing but problems with the diablosport, it's going to cost me hundreds to resolve the issue at this point. I'd say it was just my luck, but a few others seem to have had the same issue. Service sucked from those guys too, they kept blaming me, even when the tuner started to tell me the files were corrupt. I'd avoid em.

I have the JLT and have used it with the Predator and the SCT. The SCT is the way to go no matter what other people on this forum say. The proof is in the dyno pulls and 1/4 mile. I have and am happy with Dougs SCT tune. You will be too. Stay far away from RPM outlet.

I was using the C&L and the U7140 from Diablosport for my 05 GT while i was N/A. At the time Diablosport had the tunes for both the C&L and Steeda CAI's on their website for download. I did some back to back testing of 3 different setups. 3 runs were done with each setup each run 1/2 hour between runs.

The mph at our track is usually high by 2 mph but all runs were done in the same lane so they are comparable.

Stock intake and stock tune 2.094 60ft. 13.757 @ 102.630 mph.
Stock intake and Diablo tune 2.041 60ft. 13.535 @ 104.577 mph.
C&L Intake and Diablo 93 octane tune 1.954 60ft. 13.274 @ 107.453 mph.

For what it's worth I was very happy with the predator. The large backlit display and datalogging capabilities without the need to carry around a laptop are well worth it. You also don't need to carry around a book to decipher trouble codes since they are described in plain english.

The drive by wire delays were imperceptible also. I would give this product top marks.

I believe that the Dealer network and support from diablosport to their dealers is the weak link for this product.

People like Peter Del Pino, Justin Burcham and David Beyer (169stang) have proven what Diablosport can do if it is tuned by the right person.

I switched to the SCT X-Cal II since i went S/C since JDM only works with SCT. The JDM tunes are flawless but to datalog I either carry my predator or the SCT with a laptop. From everything I hear from people the tuner I would go with is Doug from bamachips. George (Blazing Saddles) is running 12.17 N/A auto. He said that dougs race tune is better than the dynotune someone made him.

The choice is yours and best of luck.

Hey. I'm usually over at the 4.6 forums, but I popped over here to do a little research for the husband's Christmas present, and just wanted to thank you guys for the info you've posted. I knew he wanted the JLT, and after reading some threads here, I decided on Brenspeed. I ordered the JLT/SCT combo earlier this week, and have an email that it was shipped on the 21st and is at the local UPS facility now. Can't believe how quick it's getting here, and thanks again for the info!

i am going with JLT and SCT, i have heard nothing but horror stories about RPM and won't be using them. i was going to get some mufflers from them as well, but from what i heard, you will not get what you order and pay for, so i will stay away from them...

I have it with Doug's tune and it kicks butt. You or rather she will love it.
