I had heard that instead of paying a couple hundred for a FMS Aluminum shaft, one could be used from and Aerostar or something. Is there any validity to this? What years models work for our 5.0's? I dont really need one yet, but my shaft needs to be balanced anyway so I figured I would look into it.

AWD aerostar and you have to replace the yoke. there is a JY sticky in the tech section that has all the info.

the only prob is that most JY will pick cars up with a fork lift so guess what gets hit by the forks every time? I have found several over the last year, but they have all been bent or what not.

I did the JY aerostar driveshaft. Bought one for cheap, and the conversion U-Joints.

Then I scored a great deal on a Ford Racing one. Not till I put it beside the aerostar one did I realize how wimpy the stock one is. I'd wait till you can afford the aftermarket....

Really? I thought they were both supposed to be similar diameters and thicknesses? The way i was looking at it... I have to pay to get my orig one balanced anyway so might as well get a junkyard aluminum. Im not too concerned with overall brute strength at this point yet. Im just trying to get the car back together so i can start on the interior and suspension. Once the overall platform is done then I will start adding HP etc. I just moved to this area and Ill have t find a few junkyards and see how much they run.
