Hey there im a college student from canada and im trying to make a good H/C/I combo outta a junkyard. What vehicles can i find these from and what years? I know i can get gt40 heads from a explorer but what do i need to make them fit? and what kinda Cam and intake should i be able to find from a junkyard? from what vehicle and what will i need to make those fit??? thanx for ure time!

gt-40 heads will bolt up to a 5.0 block as well as the upper and lower intake............... all your bolts you already have should work no mods needed.

That is probably the luckiest you will be at the junkyard. Around here you never find anything special. You could always get 24#'s from a camaro or something. I don't remember what kind of car it was but you can search around online and they are like plug and play from bosch i think.

With the gt40 heads and upper and lower intake from the explorer what kinda gains should i be expecting?? on avg?
Is there any where else i could find a cam? besides a old camaro?

You gotta realize when in the junkyard it isn't easy to get a cam out.

minimal gains,ecspecially from old junkyard peices, unpoted. Maybe 5-10 hp at the wheels

I believe you have to get new headers if you run the GT40 heads.

wouldnt that be only for the gt40p heads? i figured the gt40 ones would just bolt right up.

did we have the 5.0L Exploder in Canada? I argued for the longest time at one scrap yard because the guy told the 4.0L was the biggest... Then another place told me the same?

Ford offered 5.0L Explorers in Canada. The chances of finding one with the heads and intake on it at a pick your part place are not good. Don't waste your time on junk yard cams - roller cams are cheap brand new, or try a swap meet. You will need special headers for the GT-40P heads which are on all of the 5.0L Explorers.

If you are on a really tight budget, I'd suggest porting your E7's, buying a new cam, and looking through the parts trader sections of car sites in your area for a Cobra or Explorer intake that you can buy used. What part of Canada are you in?

Ya if im lucky ill find some explorer 5.0 heads, im in winnipeg manitoba.
