Progress Thread Just another 93 convertible project

My set screws go all the way through the shaft. It was drilled and longer studs used. Used red loctite on them. That was so I could service them if needed. That part of the shaft has a bunch of room to come out a bit. Not sure on actual measurement ...or if it changed with the airbag column. Mine is an 89. A couple beads of weld would be extra insurance. There's no way I'd use them without drilling a hole to accept the keepers. I even though about having them drilled for a roll pin.

I may do the upgrade but it seems like you may have to change the inner tie rods they may either be too long or too short I have to do a little bit more research I’ll call maximum motorsports .....I do have a 94 spindles

After a tough decision to put engine back in car stock, due to lead times at the machine shop and some indecisiveness on what exactly the end game will be for this engine. The engine is clean, painted, timing chain replaced and re sealed, brakes are plumbed and blead.
Just waiting on my 5 speed transmission and aluminum drive shat to show up so I can drop engine back in the car.
The next quest will be to decide on the right wheels

Almost ready to reinstall engine and transmission. Tried some 18” x 9” fronts and 18” x 10” rears with 25 mm offset

close but didn’t work could not roll fenders enough, will be going with 05 to 14 style wheels with 45 mm offsets.

Also got a few questions
(1) Dose anyone know what kind / size plug I can use for hole in timing chain cover shown in picture ?
(2) I am using a transmission case from a 1987 where is the neutral safety switch ( if it even has one ) and reverse light switch ?

Engine and transmission in.
I used rearward holes in k member for the motor mounts. This allowed me to use the auto transmission mount and put shifter in a better position, but I am a little concerned with drive shaft length. After jacking rear diff up to ride height the drive shaft yoke never touches the transmission tail shaft ( which is good ). How much min clearance can I have from the end of the transmission tail shaft to the drive shaft yoke at its tightest point ?

Engine seems to be running well. Just need wheels before I can take it on test drive. Hopefully the stock engine will do while I source a more suitable power plant.

Found wheels that fit. Will adjust for better stance once front end aligned and will probably go with a little lower profile tire.
Should be able to take for first test drive soon.

Took car on first test drive today, needs alignment, but other than that only problem is right rear brake caliper is leaking. This is the third rebuilt caliper I have installed, the first two leaked as soon has applied brakes with the engine running the power booster. Is this a common problem with rebuild SN 95 rebuilt calipers?
