Hey guys. I just picked up a 2000 GT w/ the Mach460. It has an aftermarket Alpine CDA-7873 head unit. The previous owner had XM radio and the XM reciever is still mounted in the trunk and is still wired up. The thing is, my speakers sound as if they are getting no power at all. It plays fine but there is absolutely NO BASS. The 2 460 amps in the back are still there but one was unplugged so i plugge di tback in and it made no difference. Also, i see red/black coaxial cables hanging in the trunk meaning he most likely had subs/amp. Could it be that he disconnected the stock amps to run the aftermarket amp and left his speaker just for mid/hi's? What can i do to try and fix this? All i want to do is have the stock Mach460 sound with the Alpine head unit.

Even with the crossover turned off it still sounds like crap and seems like there is no bass.
-I went to a shop and was told it is becuase the stock Mach460 amps won't work with aftermarket head units due to different ohm ratings. What can i do short of buying new aftermarket speakers and a 4 channel amp?

Yea the deck is actually 60x4. I really hope i can just use my stock amps and get a good sound without spending money cuz i won't here crap anyways over my upcoming exhaust setup (UPR O/R X-pipe and Bassani Catback)

-Shoud i just pop off the door panel and check out what the crap is going on? and also take out the head unit and make sure the amps are hooked up?

If not, can i go to any audio store and buy the aftermarket harness to work with the Mach460?

Thanks for all the help guys

keep that deck, that is a great unit. it is more than capable of powering 2 pairs of 5 x 7" s . Just by a set for the fronts and a set for the rears and your done.

I just wrote to a guy on here about the same thing. Like the guy told you, you cant run an aftermarket head unit with the factory amp cause of the ohm's and theres more than one amp in the mach setup isnt there? If your wired through a factory amp then thats why it sounds like that, its the two amps fighting with each other pretty much cause of the differance in ohm's that the internal amp in the receiver is, normally 4 ohms. Also if you are hooked up to the amp, the speaker outputs on the receiver might not even work anymore then you will have to get an amp. I would connect each speaker lead from the radio to any random speaker from around the house and make sure they all work before investing in new speakers

no you would not use the stock amps to power them. you would use each 60w output from the alpine for each speaker.
