Hey guys,

I just bought a project 95 gt with a worn down 5.0 but a newer Tremec 26 spline 3550 5 speed trans and 3.73 rear gears. I'm looking at doing a 347 stroker in this to start if off right. I was cruising around summit racing looking at the different rotating assemblies and curious as to what CC the heads are one these gt's? I wanna stay in the 9.5:1 compression area if at all possible since I may swing the F/I route down the road. Also I know the stroker kit would need forged pistons and a steel crankshaft to handle a good chunk of power. Anyone have any suggestions and can I get help on cc of these heads? thanks everyone!

According to a test MMFF did a while back, stock heads are 61.5cc

Thank you!! Im thinking about doing a cam while i am having engine redone as well. Whats a good cam to use were piston to valve clearance may not be a big issue?

If you are having the motor built at a shop they should offer you good advice as to what direction to go for what power you want. But fyi that block is only good for 5-600 hp

if you are building it yourself, then it would make sense to get the rotating assy yourself. if you are having someone else build it, let him provide it. otherwise, he can (and will) blame that on any problems or failures that result.

but why not do it up right and buy my 410 ci motor? i am selling it (and my stang) for finance the work on the fairlane

Yep plan on building it up myself with the help of my buddy. I dont plan on anymore power than a good solid N/a build will provide. Starting it with a 347 stroker and adding a cam while Im in there.

Stroker kit, Eagle Specialty Products B16422MS030 - Eagle Street and Strip Rotating Assemblies - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Thinking a comp cams xe274 cam kit as well while im at it? Just alittle iffy on the PTV issues. Not real familiar with the 5.0 areas as I'm used to the 4.6 scene.

cool. i would love to build an engine some day ... have fun with it!

i like the XE line of cams.

most aftermarket pistons are made with reliefs to support the different angles of the different common heads, and the lift of the more agressive cams, so you should be OK with that rotating assembly. of course, checking the PTV clearance is still part of the engine building process though.

edit: after looking at it more closely, it says it has a 28oz imbalance. i thought that the 302 based rotating assemblies had 50oz imbalance, while 351 based assemblies had 28oz imbalance. i guess it doesn't really matter, so long as all the associated pieces are for the same imbalance.

Yep balancer and flywheel are included for that balance. I'm curious tho, you seem highly knowledgeable on this so maybe you could answer me real quick. What is the typical figure on compression with flat top pistons with stock heads?

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

If you are using stock heads, the stroker is pointless. I'd get a shortbock through Fordstrokers with an FTI top end. Take all the guess work out of it.

yeah i thought you were just undecided about heads not that you were keeping the stock heads. the stroker is pointless with stock heads. you'd be better off leaving the bottom end alone and bolting on some decent heads. you'd make more power that way. the stock heads are the bottleneck, not the displacement.

yeah i understand about the head issue. This engine needs to be rebuilt and i figure since I've got to rebuild it i might as well rebuild it to where it needs to be.

Also just picked up a set of F3zz gt40 heads here locally for $250. Those from what I understand are a little bit of improvement over the stock 95 gt heads correct?

I know these heads have a 62.5 cc chamber so adding flat top pistons do you guys have any idea what range of compression this will fall into?
