I've owned a Fox since 1990. I have an '04 V6 Mustang for DD duty but, I'm always looking for reasons to drive my Capri instead.

I took my car up to a local cruise night and I had three random people tell me to never sell the Notch.

Convo would go something like this..."Hey, is this your car?" "Yup, that's my car." "Wow, I can't believe how clean it is, you just don't find them like this anymore, most of this generation that I see is roaming around in a pretty poor status or has had some sort of aweful repaint. Whatever you do, don't sell this car man, you will regret it."

LB I love my 04 as a DD. I'm telling you dude, blizzaks are the answer.

If you are worried about rust, fluid film her. The 04 has a much tighter chassis and is more creature-comfortable for everyday transportation.

If I had some extra cash I would say I would trade my Notch + some cash for you termi.

To this day, I'm still kicking myself for selling the first Fox I ever owned, an '89 black LX T-5 5.0 notch with about 135k on it. I was Fox-less for about 4 years as I did some automotive soul-searching until I realized I'd never be (somewhat) happy until I had another car just like it. Eventually, I scored another '89 5.0 notch that had been converted to a T-5 - it was ragged-out and it's taken forever to rebuild the thing, but I love it to death. It's not the fastest or best-handling thing out there, definitely not the best-looking (countless dents, dings, and a ghetto paintjob that just about everyone else seems to hate), and in the days when I was DD'ing it, it's certainly not the most comfy beast I've owned, either ... but I have NO intentions of ever getting rid of it. I have too much time, money, and personal history wrapped up in it at this point to ever do that. Even if I won the lottery and could afford to buy whatever I wanted, I'd still keep the thing ... probably just buy a nicer DD and then fix teh Notch up a bit more.

My '84 on the other hand ... meh. It's turd-slow (CFI + AOD + 3.08's = ), quiet as hell (stoopid stock single exhaust), it's leaking three different fluids at any given time, and I can't carry as much in it as I'd like to (I miss having a little pickup truck). BUT ... the gas mileage is decent (24+ MPG on average), it's fairly comfortable as a DD, it's in better shape overall than teh Notch (fewer dings, better paint, and fewer miles), and parts are just as easily and cheaply acquired for it. I'll probably ditch it someday in favor of another compact truck (S10 or Ranger), but ONLY because I'll still have another Fox in my possession. If something ever happened to teh Notch ... another stupid old-fart snowbird that can't drive, theft, random catastrophic underhood fire, whatever ... then my '84 would become my weekend toy by default and would get all of teh Notch's salvagable goodies.

Besides ... I'll probably never be able to afford anything nicer than a Fox, anyway.

Just curious, but what in your mind made it a POS and a Fox its superior?

It would have to be, considering the SN95 improved on all of the previous short comings of its predecessor.

I'd sell.

As much as I love my car, if an offer like that ever crosses my lap...it's gone.

Hellooooo 03/04 Cobra!!

I'd love to get back into a 99-04 Mustang. I loved mine. I really want an Azure Blue '04 Mach 1, but i'll settle for a termi

I'm not actively seeking to sell my Fox, but if i'm ever at a show and someone legitimately makes a good offer...it's gone.

So, I have a dilemma, I have owned 6 foxes over the last 10 years and I will sell one get a new one or sell one and say "Oh I'm going to try something different" but I always come back to a fox. Lately I have been on a real kick to sell my car and pickup a New Edge Saleen. Ever since I laid eyes on one I knew I had to have one someday and financially for me the timing is right.

This morning I started up the Fox and drove it to work, and as I am driving it I'm thinking to myself I cant sell this Car I love it, then All these plans are running through my head "Oh I should change this or upgrade that, maybe change the wheels finally start my T5 conversion....rear disc... The point is, these car's are hard not to like and being someone who has owned as many as I have it's hard to let go. So I think it's safe to say, whether I pick up a Saleen down the road, there will always be a place in my garage for a Fox. Sorry I had to rant

How about you guys/gals? have you ever tried to peel yourself away from these cars but find yourself coming back?

I've gone through this a million times. My '90 has been in Autotrader on three different occassions but I always end up taking the ad down after a day or two. Just can't do it. It's getting up there in age (315k miles) and although it runs hard it isn't in the best shape. I'm down to driving it once or twice a month. Still, all it takes is a quick cruise around the neighborhood to remind my why I love this car so much. It's just a blast. Especially after driving my '92. lol I've gotten a couple offers on the '92 but nothing I would bother entertaining. I haven't gotten what I would consider to be a serious offer. Otherwise, who knows. Obviously my '90 is much more fun to romp on but the '92 is in better condition. It's also my daily driver and where I work $50k+ cars grow on trees. Sometimes I wish I could be DD'ing something newer but there is an unexplainable satisfaction I get out of driving these cars. If I'm going to spend the extra money it has to be something I'm passionate about. There are many new cars that I like, or "wouldn't mind owning" but so far nothing that I wouldn't be ready to get rid of in two years.

So a New Edge is a piece of **** because is a couple hundred pounds heavier than a Fox???...c'mon man, you've got to do better than that! How does that statement make sense? Hell, an S197 is heavier than both of them and it’s twice the car the SN95 is and 3-times the car the Fox is by comparison.

Besides, we all know that despite the slightly heavier curb weight, comparing both cars in stock trim has the New Edge SN95 outrunning, out handling, out stopping and strait up outperforming its predecessor by leaps and bounds....so what difference did that extra 100-200lbs make?

Not digging the SN95 because of the style, or complexity (even if it is marginal by comparison) or because of some nostalgic value one would place on their Fox is one thing…and certainly more than enough reason to choose one car over the other, but these are subjective personal preferences at best. Really, if the New Edge is a piece of **** and it’s an improved version of the Fox, does that make the Fox diarrhea by comparison?

I love my coupe to death, but maybe this is my opportunity to get back into a muscle car, that's where my heart is and has always been.

To the OP: sorry for derailing your thread.

Right now if I were to get into another Mustang it would be a New Edge. Also, the news of a possible 400hp GT is very exciting. I would be interested in picking up a used one down the line.

I don't understand this thing, either. I see this in every other ad where someone's selling a Fox - "Will also trade for ATV or sandrail/dune buggy." WTF?!? Is EVERYONE ditching street cars for off-road toys, these days? I just don't understand the trend, myself...

Well, if the Mustang was my 2nd car I might have been interested in trading it in for a motorcycle, or a jet ski, or another toy.

Prob was it was my daily driver, and i needed the cash for a Down Payment on a new car (the G35 i bought)

I tried to explain that to one kid offering to trade his 4-wheeler. He said I could turn around and easily sell it in a day or so and then use the cash. I just told him, "If it's so easy, YOU go sell it and then bring me the cash"
