ok say you have a completely stock 5.0 HO motor. no mods nothing at all. and you bore it over . say .10 .20 .30. 40 .50 .60. the normal bores people usually do to the 302 block. what is the estimated hp and torque gain on a new 5.0 HO that has a fresh rebuild and bored to these specs. mainly the .40 is what in interested in. but the other bores would be nice to know as well. now remember everything is stock on the 302 im just trying to figure out what just the bore does. other mods are there.. but im just curious is to what it adds to a stock 302 ho with justa bore

.030 is the common one and is probably your safest bet for a rebuild, do not by all means exceed a .040 bore - that's large enough as it is. But compared to a stock 302 in 0 miles condition, probably 5-7 hp, 10 tops. All it does is rebore the cylinder wall in an attempt to straigthen them back out. You can't just pick a bore however though, you choose accordingly as to how badly the walls have been damaged with normal use and wear and tear. You won't know until the block is torn down and a machinist tells you the minimum bore needed to straighten things back out.

Also take into consideration what type of piston you will be using.

And the more you overbore, the weaker the cylinders become.
