...and wow. It's awesome. It's great not having to downshift to pass on the interstate anymore. Midway Ford did an excelent job. Not a bit of gear whine. It took them longer to install the gears and speedcal than they expected, but they didn't charge me any extra. "We quoted you $350 over the phone, and that's what you'll be charged, no more." That was what the shop manager told me when I told him I was concerned about the extra labor. They are a good shop.

Well, I just went for my first spirited drive since having the gears installed and the car just feels so much faster. 2nd gear no longer red-lines at 70 mph, which is nice. Now 2nd gear is finished almost as quickly as first. At 70 mph, I cruise at about 2600 RMP's in 5th, which isn't bad at all. Now I chirp tire shifting to 3rd. This is the 2nd best mod I've done next to the cams.

Wow. I wish the Ford dealers around me charged that. I had one of them quote "over $600" and another quote around $550.

One reason it hasn't been done yet...

On my stock tach, I found it to be 2500 rpm at 75 mph in 5th.

Yeah I like them a lot too.

That's due to the fact that you have a 3650 and I have a t-5. The t-45/t-5 mustangs rev a little higher.

T-45 has a .67 5th gear ratio. 3650 has .62 I believe.

Doesn't matter what manual transmission you have, 4.10's rule. That was the one mod I wish I had done first.

I don't know how correct the stock tach is on the cars I was fooling around with my programmer and watching the live-idle and intake temps and such, though it seemed to be a bit off compared to the needle on the tach. Now I don't know which is at fault here but I assume it's just the tach being a 100 or so off

Sounds like you like your 4.10s. I can't wait to get my car back. It was supposed to be done Monday but they where waiting for shims to come in, Ford only sent them one and they need 2. Now I have to wait till tomorrow before I get to try my car out with the new 3.73s.

Well, I spent about $800 total on the gears, but that's because I also bought the install kit, speedcal, and RP gear oil.
Again, labor for the install was $350.
