Hello, I just purchased a 91 GT, totally stock, nice car, clean interior, straight body, I love it....I have a question about the hatch because I never had a fox body hatch before, only a coupe until now...when the hatch is completely closed and locked, when sitting in the car and looking back I can see right outside underneath the hatch where it closes against like the interior pieces and the tailights??? What am I missing so this gap is not there? Thanks in advance for your help.

Make sure there is weatherstripping and the little rubber grommets on the outside of the hatch. Congrats on your purchase. Post pics when you can.

Ok, there is the rubber grommets on the outside corners of the hatch..that is what you mean right? The weatherstripping towards the bottom is a little bit worn but it is still there...maybe that is the problem? The hatch is lined up and everything and locks tight, but there is just that gap. Thanks....I love the car, last night was my first night with it, after getting rid of my coupe which was a lot of problems, this car is a like a dream everything works, its bone stock just perfect to start out with..hope to get pics next weekend if its nice here in PA and no snow!

My 90 GT did the same thing. If you took it through a high pressure wash it would spray in a lil. I ordered a new rubber gasket weatherstripping and it fixed it. No more daylight through it nor water. Congrats on new purchase!

If your seeing daylight throught the hatch and the weatherstripping is in good shape, all you need to do is lower the striker on the body of the car with a torq bit, just enough that the hatch will still close. A little trial and error in adjusting it. Adjust the rubber stops on the side ends of the hatch for final fit.

It could also be the...dang it drawing a blank the Part that actually hooks the hatch down to the car... it's the gray bar that sticks out from the middle of cut away box in the back...mine lost the plastic part around that and it cause it not to seal right and jiggle over bumps.
