Just got dyno'd....blew a HG

Whell i went out and checked the timing, it was set at 8deg with the spout out.

Is this the extent of the timing changes?

If so there is your problem. Like I posted in the other post in the areas off idle and before WOT the EGR tables will be active and are 40+ so your only going to be -2 or so out of 40+. Also at WOT your total is 26-ish so you would be seeing about 24*. Both of these are WAY WAY too much. I would hope he has access and is changing your timing tables around correct?

At the next tune I would ask him to show you your timing tables and what he is changing. If anything so you know for sure.

Think about the iron heads like this as far as the "thin" decks. Most people compare the deck thickness to an alum. head. Alum. is softer needing more to equal that of iron. So a thinner deck can and will be just as strong as a thicker alum. deck. Also alot of the factory stock guys mill the piss out of the heads, there not boosting but they are running some preaty extreme setups none the less. Also how can in this case a stock 93-95 cobra or 93-95 gen 1 lightning handle double the boost STOCK if the heads are that chitty? Unless you have some FAR out head issues I just cannot see the issue being the heads at only 6psi. Thats like running a 75-80 shot of n2o

I've run GT-40's(not p heads) cut .03" @8psi w/22* with no problems. I did have felpro (1011-2?) HG and arp bolts. I think you can get AFR 165's ped mount if you go that route.

whell guys, i took and pumped out the gas that was in the tank, replaced it with fresh 93, then lowered the timing to 4deg.

I took the car out, and did some 2nd and 3rd gear runs, and me or my buddy coulden't hear any detionation at all. However, i noticed after the run that my overflow tank was still filling up a bit and bubbling.(not puking everywhere tho)

The car runs damn good, pulls pretty hard at 5lbs, and wish i dident have to throw gaskets on it. It makes the same peak hp as it did before, but now its instant boost....when i shift gears, it feels like a 347 stroker motor or something the way it pulls with instant power.

Anyway, i was thinking of putting in some cosmetic MLS gaskets and putting my crane 2031 cam back in....i think that was my saving grace before as it was probably lowering my compression ratio.

What do you think? I really need a tranny and a clutch so if i can get away with this setup i would be happy....im looking for 400 rwhp no more.

thanks guys. OK, i found out that my heads were milled .004. Is this enough to cause my detionation? I would really like to keep these heads if i can. I was thinking of just adding a boost cooler and running this setup again....what do you think?
