i had my car dynoed today and i wanted to see if anyone else thought that my numbers looked kinda low. they put the air fuel ratio so it was at 13:1(i think hte fuel pressure is around 40) and bumped the timing to 14 degrees and it made 265 HP and 292 ft/lbs. of torque. does this seem right, i have seen people saying that with similar combos to myne they made closer to 300, one of the workers at the shop guessed i was going to make 270 because thats around what he baselined his car at and the engine combo is pretty similar. kinda confused right now

Well figure about 15% loss through the drivetrain, that puts you over 300 at the flywheel. It also depends on what kind of dyno you are using as well. Did they have any comments at the dyno shop about it?

they said it was about right and the car was running good but the gt-40 x heads stock were limiting power, i guess i just expected more out of it, now i guess i'll just sace up for a supercharger

Well it does seem a bit low what cam is it that your using? You mention it's a crane cam but there are alot of crane cams :P. Also since you have aluminum heads & the GT-40X are fast burn heads you can probably use more timing than you currently are.
Are you still using the stock clutch fan? Get an electric & that'll free up some power... throw on some under drives & I think you'll be alot closer to where you want to be.

Also your intake may be a bit big ... might want to see if a friends has an edelbrock(performer) upper you can swap to see what it's like. I have the same problem(intake is too big) & it kills port velocity.

I ran the dyno and made only 258 RWHP and 280 RWTQ. My car was tuned really poorly and running pig rich( 22* BTDC timing, and a/f ratio of 10:1). I've got it tuned alot better better (15* timing and neutral-slightly rich fuel state), and I'm adding an MSD 6al, 3G alt, and electric fan in the next few days, so I'm hoping to hit 300 RWHP by the end of the summer. Only other things I plan on adding are a bigger TB and MAF and maybe 24# injectors. I wish I had gotten my heads and intake ported before they went on, but I just didn't have the money... :(

the crane cam i have is identical to the e-cam and eventually i plan on getting a bigger cam to match the intake and i am still considering getting my heads ported

dont forget you have the tremec tranny wich has a 18% loss a t-5 has 15% i had 301 rwhp i put in my tremec 3550 and a eaton 31 spline posi and 31 spline axles and the nitrous plate between the upper and lower intakes and it sucked me down to 276 rwhp but at least now my stuff shouldnt break if u had a t-5 your #'s would be a little higher the tremec had 13 some odd lbs more gear to spin trust me when i saw my dyno sheet i was dissapointed too....

I don't think the #'s are that bad. I also don't think a cam change is needed. Porting those heads and a custom chip could be worth nearly the 35hp that you are looking for. Remember- all dyno's are different. You could have made 285 or more on a different dyno. If you are really worried about it, find another dyno and try again.

When I dyno'd (193k) miles on the car I made 226.7 hp and 295.4 TQ at the wheels. Only mods are K&N filter, C&L 76mm MAF w/pipe, March UD pulleys. Offroad H pipe, MAC catback. And my A/F was 13.1 at cruise and 11.1 at WOT. These are SAE numbers. From a DYNOJET on a 80 degree day with 90% humidity.

MAY 15, 2004. SO I personally say your numbers are off. All because I do noth H/C/I and i make more TQ but you have me on HP. So who knows. Could be the larger heads like everyone else says.

i am not really dissapointed with the numbers, and i alos have a 1 inch spacer to clear my valve covers, that might have cost me a few HP but all in all i am happy because now my car feels better that the fuel pressure and timing are set up right. and like QDRHRSE said all dynos read differently, there was a black notch and with unported edelbrock heads, a trick flow street intak and an f-cam he made 260 something and 280 ft/lbs of torque so myne is right in that range. i think i am gonna skip porting the heads and save up for a paxton novi 2000 :D

Dont be overly disappointed with your results, it gives you something to work with. get the underdrives and try a different upper intake. also, if your looking for an electric fan, PM me, i can get them cheap!
