I agree. I have the MM CC plates and maxed out the caster. I do not have any steering issues and as a matter of fact it handles better over those tire ruts in the road. There's a suspension site that gives you the 411 on caster and camber. Their explanation of caster is to the point for novice. Basically if you were to have negative caster the car would be darty but positive caster gives more control if you know what I mean. If I can find the site I'll post it.
Also, why don't you buy MM alignment tool (about $50) to set camber. I basically set mine straight up with a slight tow in and maxed out the caster. You will know if the tow is out too far - the tires will squeal like in a parking garage. I also lost a couple set of tires with a lot of negative camber - alignment shop set alignment to stock specs - I was green then but red and fiery now.
An important point of interest is that most alignment guys are uncomforable with making the caster equal on both sides as they feel you will need to fight against the crown of the road in daily driving. Just insist on having it equal, you will not have this problem.
