thats kinda wierd the older 4.3's getting better gas mileage than the newer ones, the older ones had only a single injector with the spider popets, and the newer ones had 6 inj, with spider popets... but that i think probobly goes with how the people took care of their crap
well i am going to get it painted probobly after this winter... im thinking about black or maybe white. then eventually i might drop in a 4.3L and lim slip rear end with 3.55's or something, (its my DD and i dont wana kill my gas mileage)

Only the older Vortec motors had the spiders. The rest had TBI until '96 when they all had the spider system.
The TBI ones are the ones that seem to get better mpg.
