Couple of pics of a 88 t bird that someone put a 3g alt conversion in. This thing is mint and looks to be rewired for more juice. Even with the big pulley and all accessories on the needle barely changes.. keep in mind 87 uses a volt meter not ammeter . Those ammeters never tell you a damn thing! till its dead. $22 at pick n pull now my problem is since adding power steering I can't keep the belt or whatever from squealing. I suspect the water pump bearing or the tensioner pulley, maybe even ps pump. The car didn't do this the day before I installed ps.. But I had my belt routed way different too. i had a jeep do this, i replaced the water pump only to still have it do it. i can wet or spray the underside of the belt and it will stop but then comes back in a min or so depending on how wet it was. I poked around with a mechanics stethoscope but came up short. I didn't mind replacing the weak stock alternator, but I don't want to do water pumps and ps pumps and tensioners to chase down a problem i cant figure out. Damn mustang

in these next pics you see clear tubing over the wires..all the 3g alts ive seen haven't had this. i think it cus the rewound the field coil. this was custom tailored for this car so who know.

installed

Nice welds on the hood! I'm hoping to pick up welding this year.
thanks man.... with auto body you have to just make a bunch of tack welds and dont let it heat up too much or it will warp to hell. I just wanted to cover it up for now and wasn't too concerned with looks.
i use a Lincoln 140 which i bought at lowes for i think $600 out the door. my roommate has a miller matic autoset, i dont care for it at all. they go for way cheaper on craigs list. Dont make the mistake of buying a harbor frieght welder

Made some progress today. Shimmied the PS pump and my belt squeal is gone. I don't remember there being any washers between the head or ps bracket,Maybe there were and I just didn't notice when I pulled the stuff off the old black car?!
i cleaned up the door edges of rust and the front bumper. i used some rustoleum I had laying around and a foam brush after i ran out of spray paint on the drivers door. Came out ok and stuck with whatever I brushed it on
Recharged my beat up k&n filter too

looks good man. is there any way you'd be willing to take a picture of the bar on your roll cage that is running along the roof, down the A pillar, and to the floor? i'd like to see where it goes, down there by your feet. i'm about to cage my car and am trying to decide on how i want to do it.

Yea I can look and see what I have or take pics tomorrow. My cage is set up different from how it needs to be since it had a 86 dash originally. You want the bar to come down from the roof and follow the a pillar and go through the small speaker cover down to the floor. that way the dash can be notched where the speaker was so you can just pull it out with out a problem
