Prices range from $249-$649 and this is one area I am not sure you really get what you pay for with the MAJORITY of these options being at the low end of that price range.

I do plan to retain the stock A-Arms...atleast until I retire the car just for racing, but that is YEARS down the line...if it ever happens at all.

Is there a clear weight advantage from one to the other? What about strength?

Thanks,
Jared

I think only the Qa1 and Steeda let you keep the stock a-arms. I plan on picking up the Steeda sometime over the winter.

Be careful about changing the K there is a lot of crash protection in the stock K and if you change it out you are making the car less suitable for the street and more unsafe.

QA1 K member-The QA1 K member has had quality issues and
clearance problems since it puts your wheels and tires one
inch forward. The a arms looked to have very poor quality
when I seen there K member kit before.
I know the design and production build of the QA1 K member was
changed sometime in 2005.Since then the quality of there K member
has went to the stink pile. The older QA1 K members are alot better.
You can find them used in the classifieds if you search.
Granatelli K member-The Granatelli K member is by far the worst choice and
is basicly a cheap knock-off of the Maximum Motorsport design.
People on other mustang forums have found bad welds under the
powder coating before on this K member.People always complain
about the Granatelli coilovers too. There customer service sucks from
my experience with them and I would never give them my business again.
Maximum Motorsport K member-The Maximum Motorsport K member has
the best overall design and is stronger too but,is alittle heavier though.
Quality and fitment is excellent by far but,has a expensive price tag at
over 1K.Customer service is simply the best at Maximum Motorsports
and they are always willing to help people.
I helped install two AJE Racing K members before. The fitment was great
and bolted right in.Quality was pretty good too overall for a lighter K member.
Definitley do your research before purchasing any K member kit.
9/10 you get what you pay for when it comes to purchasing a aftermarket K member kit.

^yea i would have to agree on the write up. like i said i got the MM set-up and love it. great adjustability and ya it is a bit heavier but i was willing to deal with the weight in return for the added strength. and ya they have great customer service.

Bill Putnam ran a UPR products K member kit for years on
his 00 GT without any problems. The fitment and quality is
good too.For the money spent the UPR products K member
is a great bang for the buck.

I know a few guys running the PA Racing K member with and without
stock a arms on Modular Fords. They all said they liked the fitment
and one guy said it fit perfect.lizzyfan also has ran the PA Racing K
member for quite some time now and he really raves about how much
he likes it.He highly recommends running the PA Racing K member and using
their a arms with spring perches.Overall the quality of the PA Racing K
member top notch and the customer service from this company is good
too.

That's good to hear. Not to steal the OP's thunder, but I think that is the road I will be going down when the time comes.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of keeping the stock A-arms?
I have heard that coil-overs can add significant NVH, so that would suggest that one would use A-arms with spring perches (stock or aftermarket) for a car that will still be used on the street significantly.

one thing to make sure the install goes correctly is to base your measurements off the front attachment points of the rear lower control arms. you can either do it on a white floor and a sharpie to measure your lines or else hang plumb bobs from the mounting bolts to assure proper alignment.

I had the UPR on my car for about 4 years, 3.5 of which it was my daily driver, 80k miles and even had a couple minor accidents and never had a problem.

I have the QA1 and am very pleased with it except for the fact that the wheels rub on the control arms when i turn the wheel all the way over. But then again I'm running 9" front wheels with 275 tires...I may get a set of spacers to see if it helps in the future, but for the time being im content.

I'd love to see examples of any UPR k-member failures. I've known many people to use them on daily driven street vehicles and have never seen one failure in regards to build quality. I've seen one A arm bend after the car was involved in nasty collision that also bent the frame.

Would anyone with k-members already installed be willing to comment on header clearance, especially on the passenger side?
Is it significantly easier to loosen/remove the passenger side header for transmission/clutch work? Also, is the starter accessible?

Also, is it generally easier to access both side header bolts for tightening or installation of locking header bolts?

And sorry for adding other content to the thread, but I feel that it applies since the information that would result from the above questions being answered may also influence one's decision to go with one particular brand k-member over another.

I have used the UPR kit on several Mustangs. Some of which were daily drivers. Never had an issue and the customer service was outstanding. Also, I believe everything they make is made in America.
